So I have a fairly new PC, and it's already fallen victim to some kind of browser hijacker called Feed Helperbar. The short version: it causes a bunch of minor but irritating problems, and I'd like to get rid of it. I've installed the paid version of McAfee and something that was recommended to me called Spybot Search and Destroy, but neither has done the trick. Just wondered whether anyone had heard of it and/or could recommend something that will get it off my PC for good.

Thanks in advance!

Try Malwarebytes.

Yeah, Malwarebytes is always a good option: https://www.malwarebytes.org/

If that doesn't work, and depending on how comfortable you are with deleting files from your PC manually, you could try what's suggested here: http://virusremovalguideline.blogspot.c ... virus.html

There seem to be plenty of sites with various removal techniques, with a few options, so it doesn't sound like something horrendously difficult to get rid of.

Thanks, both - will try Malwarebytes first before I attempt the manual deletion.

I'm pretty much certain a scan with both Malwarebytes and Adw Cleaner should fix your problem. My flatmate gets these search bar things all the time as they're pretty incompetent :fp: So I'm used to fixing these problems.
