This unlocks in about 11 hours but you can start playing it from 5pm if you use a VPN to change your IP address to one from zone one (Auckland, Sydney, Tokyo, Singapore or Mumbai). Here's a handy map of when the game unlocks around the world:

You'll be pleased to know that the soundtrack has been included with the game, free of charge.

Also, congratulations to Tragic Magic!

Congrats Tragic.

And DD you can post about VPNs all you want. Guarantee when I launch it I'll get messages asking me how I'm playing it. Happens everytime.

I've bought this without knowing anything about it, do the videos provide a good explanation of how it's different from Civ 5?

The video I posted on the last page is a great way to quickly see some of the differences between this and V. It made me excited about the idea of moving to this from V instead of just sticking with V.

Xeno posted some longer videos as well but I never didn't want to go into too much detail before I got the game.

I've been addicted to Civ 5's base game for several weeks now. I want to get the expansions, but I'll let the wife buy them for my christmas instead.

Question: When you have multiple expansions, do they all stack up and apply when you play whichever one you're on, or do you have to start one specific one to get its specific stuff? It has been years since I played anything on a PC with expansions...

The expansions merge into the base game to make one glorious time sink. You can use Steam to disable specific DLCs but the game is much better with the expansions.

The complete edition is all but guaranteed to be on sale at 75% off over Christmas. It might be even cheaper if Green Man Gaming price matches Steam but gives out a coupon for more money off. This happened over summer when it was available for £8.74.

I got it wrong earlier. It won't unlock until 6pm because UTC != BST...unless I'm wrong about being wrong.

Appparently there's no victory rundown at the end so you can't tell why someone won :s

I'm giving this a wide birth until it's cheap.

At the minute it feels like a re-skin with a very gooseberry fool looking UI.

It definitely feels like Civ V in space but that's no bad thing as I love Civ V.

In my innaugural game, I found myself facing hostile aliens that took out my explorer which turned into quite a skirmish. I finally managed to take out one of the alien nests and I'm moving to take out the other. Both were located around the outpost that is nearest to my colony so I had to take them out so that I could set up a trade route.

I found out the hard way that the declare war and I'm not interested buttons have been swapped around when another leader asks you about waging war  Thankfully by this point I had set the game to autosave at every turn so I could go back and correct that.

It's a shame that you still can't check your resources when you're in the diplomacy menu with other leaders. This makes accepting deals less enticing as, especially starting out in BE, I don't always have an accurate understanding of my whole empire.

The interface seems very monotonous. I miss the colourful icons that depicted different units and buildings in the production queue. The actions, like heal, attack and improve a tile, don't seem to stand out much but I think that I'll get used to it with time.

I'm looking forward to playing more of this and learning more about the new features. I've launched my first satellite, which I recovered while fighting aliens, and I'm looking forward to launching more, especially an offensive one.

I just remembered, why isn't there infinite scroll? When you get to one end of the map, you can't keep scrolling to loop to the other end.

From what I've played it feels like Civ V with different units but it's not as in depth as Civ V with expansions; it feels like a definite base game

One of the other sponsors started to attack the station with which I was trading so I decided to wage war. The sponsor managed to take out the station after I declared war so now I'm just fighting for my own people. That being said, I think that I've taken out most of its units.

However, quite a few aliens seem to have popped up quite close to my base while I was attacking the other sponsor. There's also a siege worm that looks worryingly powerful approaching...
