I've said I'm not here to argue, I just want to know what it's going to cost to run something like Watch_Dogs or Star Wars 1313 to the standard that was displayed at E3.

:simper:

So realistically how much would it cost to get a rig to run something like that?

A GTX680 is going to cost me around £400 to start with.

It is a common fallacy of people who are unfamiliar with the market to assume that you need the most expensive or top end options in order for the build to be viable. This is not true.

The 680 is what is known as an enthusiast option. Something you buy if money is not a constraint. It is the fastest single gpu board in the world, and has a price tag to match.

Expect to pay less than £200 for a very capable GPU. £250-330 for a showoff GPU. £400+ for a money no object showcase build.

The more you know.

I certainly am unfamiliar with it, I've not been a PC gamer (other than the odd bash on Red Alert 2 and Sim City 4) for about 13 years now. Certainly nothing that appeals to me on 360/PS3 in the forseeable (other than buying Halo 4) so PC gaming seems to be the only viable option for me.

I'm also not looking to just run Battlefield 3 at 1080/60, I'm after a little more, the demos of WatchDogs and 1313 have literally blown me away, and it's looking like at least 2 years until a console's going to be capable of anything like that.

Will the new PC be backwards compatible with older games?

Trust me, the template build is more than capable of pushing those kind of visuals.

There is always the option to move up, which is pretty much what I have done. Incrementally improving my build from an already powerful base. I didnt really need to, but enjoy it nonetheless. Im currently running a 4.1GHz i5, 8GB undervolted and oc'd ram, and an oc'd GTX570. Nothing has given me a hint of stress so far. I play BF3 with all options maxxed and a constant smooth framerate at around 55fps.

No, you will need to buy the new HD repacks on gog.com or steam.

We should migrate GRcade to Flarum. :toot:

How much will a yearly subscription to the PC's online functionality cost?

Nope, ANet are too busy making it to take the time/effort needed to do it properly, the next beta is this weekend, so they have plenty to do.
