So, Nosgoth is on a "free weekend". It's really them opening up the beta for a weekend for a stress test. It's a 4v4 beat-em-up, humans (who has guns and other ranged artillery) vs vampires (who are far more agile and can climb up buildings, but are strictly melee). It's actually pretty neat, although it is going to be a free to play game and has microtransactions out the wazoo.

Also on free weekend: Insurgency, which is essentially a realistic military shooter. I don't have a trip report, but I expect far fewer microtransactions.

So I'm in the process of slowly upgrading my pc ahead of steam machines, a little bit each month. Changed my hdd to an ssd drive and was floored by the difference: turning on the pc for it to boot up in about 20 seconds is pretty awesome. Games load in a flash. Well worth it.

Also decided to get full version of windows 8 as my old version was windows 7 oem, which should help when upgrading bit by bit. I like it; can't really see what it got so much flak.

Next board...motherboard, CPU and ram (gulp).

If you are only going to play one game than start low and work your way up. If you are like me and play a lot of Flight sims (mainly Combat/study Sims) then get the Thrustmaster one.

If you want to go nuts, get some rudder peddles (http://www.amazon.co.uk/Saitek-Flight-C ... rds=saitek) and some MFD's (http://www.amazon.co.uk/Thrustmaster-Re ... ywords=MFD)

Cheers for that. I was looking at the Warthog briefly (until I saw the price tag!).

I've pretty much settled on one of the Saiteks, but I'm not sure if I should go for the X55 Rhino, the X52 Pro, or the vanilla X52. The X52s are lighter on the wallet for sure, but I'm worried with how old those models are I might end up buying twice.

Additional gear is probably a step too far for me, though.

yea the x55 or x52 pro would be good. avoid the x52 a it is a good bit older now.

I had the x52 pro previously and it worked a charm. I bet it still would if I hadn't cannibalised it for parts haha

Ordered the x52 pro. Well, I ordered the x55 first, then cancelled it after I did a bit more research and found that the x52 pro was the setup Elite Dangerous was specifically designed for. Plus, dat premium finish.

Good news everyone the latest steam Beta update includes something I am certain everyone here will be happy with

Add "Hide this game in my library" functionality, accessible from the Set Categories menu. Games that are hidden will not show up in library filters except for a new filter called "Hidden", which will only appear once at least one game is marked as hidden. Hidden games are still available for play and will still appear on the user's profile.
