I rarely play anything other than the standard rifleman in the hope that the competent, skilled players take the specialised roles. Wouldn't have a clue what to do as the commander for instance, I'm more than happy to just aim my gun and shoot and occasionally follow orders if they're being given.

Thanks guys. So i'm getting the impression it's far more simulation, so more like Arma, Flashpoint, Stalker or the Old Ghost Recon games. Rather than arcadey like battlefield or COD.

I may have to bite if that's the case. I like myself a bit of one shot kill tense shootouts.

I did try it but will give it a miss tbh.

RO is much, much more serious and less arcadey than BF. But not so serious that you can't have fun. Like yeah you might spend 5 minutes hiding in a hole from artillery fire or napalm, and you'll probably never see who killed you, but when you have moments where your squad leader gets you all together to attack a fortified position, laying down smoke for cover as you all rush in, rifles cracking all round, explosions going off everywhere, there's no other fps that can compare. The feeling of satisfaction getting a 200 meter headshot with a bolt action rifle in RO2 or the M16 in Vietnam is incredible.

This is a game where you say to 32 random people on the internet "half attack from east, half attack from west, don't move until I give the go, arty is coming in" that they will follow those instructions. And if they move in to early and get themselves blown up, they apologise to you.

Got home, jumped in, jumped in the Huey as there was one free and ferried 12 people successfully to battle and only died twice.

The VC don't spawn on their squad leader, they spawn on the tunnels.

Yeah, I think it'll be a week or so before a lot of people realise they need to hunker down when they're a US squad leader and everyone else is waiting to redeploy. My VC SL kept putting our tunnel meters away from where the attackers usually were. :lol:
