Looks like it might be today rather than the usual Thursday start date.

It's starting!

Although Dead Rising is currently cheaper in the greenman gaming Halloween sale, so I'll buy it there instead.

Was hoping Danganronpa would be on sale after I missed it a couple of weeks ago. Instead bought Deadly Premonition for the third time and Lords of the Fallen.

This was a bit of an anticlimax after a few had built it up. Don't think I'll be buying anything.

Yes?

I'm considering asking for a Steam Link for Christmas but I wouldn't be able to plug it in with an ethernet cable. I assume it can connect to my network wirelessly but I also assume that has the potential to cause input lag. What are my options?

You'll have to run some cables for the best experience. If you were going to do that I'd recommend running HDMI and using a splitter so you're not introducing lag which you're going to get either way with streaming. There are also converters you can get to send HDMI over CAT6 ethernet if it's over a distance of say 10m which is really the max for HDMI without amplifying the signal.

The other alternative is Powerline adapters but my experience with these (Devolo brand) was awful.

From everything I've read here the experience with wireless is not good.

In fact wireless in general is not good.

Cat5 in new builds should be a legal requirement.

My friend was looking at a new build and to have the house "internet ready" (ethernet port in each room, and a router) was 8k  :fp:

I guess if it was all in the walls. Surely its not that hard to just run a reel of ethernet to each room alongside power which all has to go in anyway. Cat5 costs nothing.

If it's a new build can't they just put it in with the mains? Hardly 8k worth of work. Cheeky bastards.

Guess it depends on the router which I guess depends on the home many rooms and how fast they want their internet to be.
