As we know videogames are too expensive to make, so they have to make the community act as their unpaid QA/additional development department.

There are some things even modders won't be able to overcome if the engine just doesn't support it. Did you ever notice how there are literally no ladders in any Elderscrolls or Fallout games? Guess why? Engine can't do it.

The biggest problems with that engine are it's so crappy with handling NPC's even with todays technology the largest settlements can barely have a handfull of people in them.

I'm not sure how I feel about the C&C remaster. It will have Frank Klepacki doing the audio but :?

I think I will have this played at my funeral. It would be better than hearing (or not depending on which side of the casket lid you are) always look on the bright side of life.

Looking for a new monitor. Currently on an i5 with a 1050ti 4GB and just using an old 1080i TV or streaming to the downstairs telly. I have a budget of about £120-30. 4K is probably(!) a bit ambitious in terms of screen price and hardware so ok looking for a nice 1080p screen in the 24-27 inch range.

This ultrawide monitor is currently on Black Friday at Amazon - https://www.google.co.uk/url?sa=t&sourc ... fWCHXSIwUP

Questions:
- Do ultrawide monitors feel weird or are they amazing?
- Can I run virtual dual screens?
- Will my rig struggle with the extra pixels or will I be okay?

Any other recommendations or advice on brands would be very welcome as well.

Impressions on ResetEra and Steam reviews seem to suggest it's a good port too  Something you can't always take for granted with a release like this.

Definitely shall be picking it up at some point, so happy when console only cult classics like this get onto PC.

Installed my RX580 yesterday and spent a couple of hours playing around with a few games and benchmarks. I can get most games running on max settings, 60fps, including Vermintide 2, Witcher 3 & DOOM, but CPU heavy games, like Hitman, are still falling short of 60, just.

Looking for a good SSD deal in the meantime, hopefully there'll be some good Black Friday offers, and then a new CPU/mobo/ram set up in the new year, or once prices come down a bit.

The laptop I was after got a £200 price cut for Black Friday. :toot: Possibly still a slightly obscene amount of money, but I've had my heart set on it since I saw it. Still apprehensive about the horror stories about Razer, but I'm prepared to take the risk. Now I just need to find a case. Annoyingly Amazon only lists a backpack, and I assume every 15.6" case won't be ideal, because it's extremely slim, being an Ultrabook. I should probably get a portable hard drive. I wonder if I should pounce on one for Black Friday or wait for the post Christmas sales...

I literally cannot wait to get Sunset Overdrive purchased and running. Chrono Trigger and Trails in the Sky 3 too! Do Steam have a Black Friday sale? I've never owned a laptop, but I'm hoping connecting to my TV is relatively easy via the HDMI port. I'll have to figure out how to get my PS4 controller working, or perhaps my 360 one would be easier. I'm going to be the worst PC gamer ever. I apologise in advance! ;)

£2,000 and all you get is a 1060? Seriously?
That kind of money for a laptop at PC Specialist will get you a 1070 or a 1080.

Yeah, but it's so pretty... I can't lie, aesthetics played a massive part in my purchase decision. I really detest chunky laptops, or the typical gamer laptops that look like spaceships. I was reading that there's quite a difference between the 1070 MaxQ and 1070, and not so much difference between the 1060 MaxQ and 1060. There also seemed to be a few more horror stories for 1070 model Blades online, so I decided to stick with the 1060. I can't see myself playing much that's demanding, the majority of things I play are Japanese.

Curious what kind of controllers people are using. I'm tempted to pick up an Xbox One controller, as there are a couple of Black Friday offers still about. I notice in the listing it mentions Windows 10, so I assume it'd be straightforward to connect. Do they use a standard USB to USB mini for a charging cable? I can charge direct from the laptop, right? I have a PS4 controller, but I'm not a huge fan of the analogue controller layout. My old 360 controller is in the loft, and paying £35 seems less hassle.

Been perusing the Steam sale, definitely going to pick up Chrono Trigger at £5.99, especially as they seem to have fixed most of the issues. Loads of Falcom stuff is on offer too. Not that any of this stuff is going to challenge the new laptop...

Xbox controllers don't have rechargeable batteries built-in. As strawberry floating ridiculous as it seems in 2018, you'll need to either buy AA batteries for it, or get a Play and Charge kit for another £20.
