I have never played that series. I will get around to it definitely. What's the best one to start with?

The Oath in Felghana is also meant to be very good. Don't worry about being out of step with the story.

A couple of quick bits of gameplay:

My understanding is that it's best to start with I&II if you want to play them all because they'd feel a bit dated after the others. Ys Seven (PSP) was the first game that I played in the series but you can't go wrong with any of the others :toot:

As excited :toot: as I am for the Steam version of Seven, I'd love Switch versions to play on the go :shifty:

Thanks SoK and Dragon, those games tend to be on sale a good bit on steam and humble, I'll get Origin and give it a shot.

Hello fellow PC gamers. My girlfriend and I made a game last weekend for the GameMaker's Toolkit game jam. It'd be cool if any of you would like to play it, or give it a rating. Linkypoo.

I promise it's not gooseberry fool.

Trying to play through Fallout: New Vegas as I never finished it originally and I have to say, it's not very good. I mean it's not bad by any means, but on here people always seem to go on about it being the best of the new Fallout games and I really don't see it.

All the quests just seem so generic, there's really not a single one that I could recall from the first time I played it that stood out for me. For both 3 and 4 there are some pretty good quests that were interesting and made an impact, for this it's all just generic find item x for person 1, solve mystery y for person 2, clear out building for person 3 etc.

Why does everyone on here seem to like it so much?

Fallout New Vegas really needs mods to reach the pinnacle that people go on about. There are plenty of mods for it that go beyond the simple "Here's another quest/weapon/item" and actually add hours of new content with completely new quest lines and locations, all of it fully voiced and integrated into the main game as if it were official content.

I can't remember much about its side-quests, but it has excellent main quests. The main story is far beyond anything Bethesda have ever written, both in terms of being thematically interesting and in allowing you to have real impact on the development of the plot.

New Vegas has characters and factions with actual motivations and distinct ideologies for you to consider when role-playing. The interplay between the factions and freedom you have in tackling quests is staggering, I still discover new things about the game to this day. I don't know how you can call the quests generic in a game that contains 'Beyond the Beef'. I don't agree with the game requiring mods to reach the level of quality it's lauded for either, there are some great ones that will enhance the experience, for sure, but the content that was shipped with the game is excellent. The fact that Obsidian were able to make it on a rushed development cycle in just 18 months is amazing to me.

The usual argument I see people make for Fallout 3 being superior is that the world feels more desolate and fitting of the post-apocalyptic theme, but I'd argue that Fallout has always been more post-post-apocalyptic, exploring how civilization might progress and what societal orders might arise after the institutions of the old world failed. New Vegas' writing excels at this.

That's because Obsidian developed it, not Bethesda.

As I mentioned I never finished it originally, I got up to a few missions past meeting Mr. House, but from what I remember, and maybe I just need to go further I don't really feel like choosing one side over the other has an impact on the world outside of here there were a bunch of legion soldiers standing around, now they're gone and there are NCR soldiers in their place etc.

Oh well, maybe I just need to go further. Currently playing through Old World Blues which is apparently pretty good.
