When on on Steam with Chrome, if you want to buy a game and go to it's page a box above the buy option is there and it tells you the current cheapest price, the historical cheapest price and if it's been in a bundle. It's very handy.

It's a great way to work out if you should wait for another sale on a game that interests you. The data comes from isthereanydeal.com. It's worth setting up a wishlist there so that you get notified when a game that you want goes on sale.

I didn't think of doing that.

I want Dangrompa (I have no idea how it's spelt) but I don't want to drop 15 spuds on it.

https://www.gog.com/connect

GOG have added more games to their connect service, so you can get DRM free GOG versions of some of your Steam games. Newest batch includes Hotline Miami, Shadow Warrior, and a couple of the X games.

They also have a 'Back to School' sale on too :)

Given the recent Steam Controller chat, it's currently on sale at £27.99.

I was pretty tempted, but think I'll just stick with hunting down a wired 360 pad, as I can't be bothered faffing about with batteries and charging packs.

FYI the Steam Controller lasts a ridiculous 60+ hours on two AAs.

Yeah, it's got the best battery life of any controller I've had.

Yeah the battery life is great, but mainly because you'll never want to use the god awful thing.

That's good to know about the battery life.

Is it really a bad controller, or is it just different than standard? I only really want it for anything with driving/flying in it, as I don't like keyboard controls for that. I see the D-pad gets a lot of stick, but I can't see myself using that much.

It's fine for a lot of games but driving games are one genre where the Xboxone controller is unquestionably superior because it's trigger buttons are much, much better than those on the Steam controller.

It's a controller with a steep learning curve. At first most of your time will probably be spent customising and fine tuning the controller profile (for each new game you play with it). If that sounds terrible to you... well, it's not for everyone.

I would really only recommend it to someone who thinks they'd enjoy the learning curve and playing around with creating profiles. Valve's system for community profiles just isn't good enough yet for it to be a plug and play device.

The X1 controllers are super expensive, though, so they're right out, and actually, I'm having a hard time finding places that have the wired 360 controllers in stock, too.

That doesn't actually sound terrible. Quite a lot of my time with my games is spent dicking about playing with settings, rather than just getting on with it anyway, so that wouldn't be anything new. Quite tempted to give it a go, anyway.

EDIT: HAH! £7.40 postage. A wireless 360 pad would be cheaper, and probably more versatile, as it doesn't have to run through the Steam overlay like the Steam controller does.

I bought another wired 360 pad as a redundant backup not long after the xbone came out, it's still in its box in a cupboard. My current pad has plenty of life left in it, but when that dies i'll have a new one ready to go.

I just keep buying wired 360 pads, the steam controller looks okay but the main games I play on a pad really need a proper right stick

The annoying part is, I do actually own a wired 360 pad, but it's inaccessible, in a box locked in the attic of my parent's old place that they're currently letting out, so I can't just go and get it.

It's your pad just go knock the door. They can't hold it for ransom.
