Whatever happens, don't pay your parents £1500, it doesn't cost that much to keep a 360 pad, I could get a whole new PC for that much, just phone the....oops, wrong thread.

The 360 pad is so much better than the Steam Controller at almost everything I've tried it with.
Unless you want to play games like Civilisation from your sofa, get a 360 pad or Xbox One pad.

Just Cause 3 was utterly unplayable with a Steam controller no matter what I did.

Amazon list an Xbox one wired controller for £38.54, so not a bad shout, unless I can find a wired 360 pad in CEX locally.

I didn't even know they made wired Xbox one pads.

I recently bought a 360 wireless adapter for about £15 since I had three wireless 360 pads but only one wired, and I got that wired one with a launch day 360, so the cable is starting to get a bit split.

Now I'm tempted to buy it just to prove you wrong ( ;) ).
But seriously, is Just Cause 3 any good? I've heard such mixed opinions on it I don't know what to believe.

It's very CPU heavy, but I think the PC version is generally the best performing.

If you've never played a JC game then get JC2 - its much cheaper, runs on a wider range of hardware and is fundamentally the same experience. If you've played JC2 then I wouldn't bother unless it was your GOTY.

I would say get JC3 rather than 2 if you can find it for about a tenner, i think it's a much better game, albeit a flawed one still.

Well now I don't know what to believe. I guess it's onto the wishlist with both of them and wait for a sale.

JC2 is easier to run and cheaper but I would say JC3 is better looking overall and the story is silly in both. JC3 does have issues but most have been sorted. The world is lovely to play in.

The wired pad is just a standard Xbox one controller and a micro usb cable. It'd probably be better to buy either the standard Xboxone controller (£36) and use your own cable or, if your PC has bluetooth the new updated pad (£45) can connect to your PC that way.

Knoyleo - don't you have a PS3? You can use the PS4 controller with a USB cable and I think the PS3 controller will also work.

Yes?

The advantage of 360/xbone pads is that windows will recognise them and install drivers instantly and most pc games will show the correct button icons for them, its more fiddly with PS pads as far as i'm aware (also the xbone/360 pads are better.)

It is not fiddly with PS4 pad, just a bit of software that runs in the background. I think the same software works with the PS3. Not going to argue about pads (because clearly the PS4's is better).

When it comes to pads:

360 > PS4 > Xbone >>>>>>> PS3.

Can the Steam Controller connect to standard Bluetooth or do you have to use the valve dongle?

Amusement under late capitalism is the prolongation of work.
