Not interested in old gooseberry fool and retro stuff. New stuff for less than £5 or no deal.

What's wrong with old games? There are a lot of classics that are just as good, if not better, than what is released these days. Even modest hardware can make them look great and stand against contemporary titles, especially Source engine stuff like Half-Life 2.

The problem with them is that I've either played them, or I have no interest in playing them. I don't have masses of time for games and no longer buy games in the hope that one day I'll be able to play them, knowing full well that day will never come. If everyone did this, you'd probably all have a much smaller Steam library.

Yes?

There's no fun in that.

Yes but many new games are gooseberry fool and you have to remember some PC games look genuinely amazing today even ones 5 or more years old because literally PC supremacy.

The only half life game worth playing is Lost Coast

If that was true, we'd all be doing it.

to be fair Lost Coast is basically a tech demo of what hl2 could have been (even better, more diverse locations), but we really saw that in ep2 and the bug cave in ep1.

When HL3 comes out at Christmas we'll finally see some proper xen stuff.

All this talk of video games makes me want to play. Is there any way we can get our game servers back up and running?

I think Winckle handled all of it and as Karl is doing his PhD there's not really anyone who knows what they're doing.

I could try, but I just couldn't do the upkeep. :(

The PC port for Dark Souls 2 is pretty well optimized. Surprising, given how shite the port for DS1 is.

Edit - I remember now why I didn't like this game when I played it on 360. Enemy placements are still strawberry floating terrible, and the death penalty is just too much for me. Eh.

SotFS is decent, not as good as the DS1 or ds3 (which is already better and I'm only a few bosses into it ha). But better than the normall DS2. Still, a great game when you compare it to most games that aren't dark souls etc.

Well that's just great, I just bought DS1 during the humble bundle sale on Saturday. :x

I got as far as installing it :toot:

It's fine using DSfix mod.

It's the best version even without dsfix. The mod really lets it shine.

I couldn't get it to run very well even with DSfix. Might be different for you. But yes, download DSfix, it is pretty much essential. The vanilla game has gooseberry fool resolution/graphics options.

DS2 is like a world away from that. I haven't seen a single framerate drop yet, every set to high. Mucked around with downsampling it and it looks great.

Valve respond to complaints by denying all wrongdoing in skin gambling controversy.

"In-game items, Steam trading, and OpenID have substantial benefits for Steam customers and Steam game-making partners. We do not believe it is the Commission’s intention, nor is it within the Commission's authority, to turn off lawful commercial and communication services that are not directed to gambling in Washington."

Well this should get interesting. Aren't the EU looking into this too?

I have to agree with Valve, they have provided a service that has nothing to do with gambling, people have found a way to abuse it, and those are the ones that should be prosecuted. The fact they have taken action, and probably the reason they did take action, helps point the finger to the correct parties.

Would be an awful can of worms to open up finding them guilty, would be interesting to see how far they would then go. I mean in America at the moment there is the whole "daily fantasy" gambling talk, you could argue the sports leagues facilitate that type of gambling as much as Valve do

Except the fact that they directly profited from people buying keys or skins to use in these gambling services. The csgo skin gambling "industry had been going for years beforehand and they did nothing about it, only kicking up a stink once it became a big story.

Last year there was a huge insider trading scandal involving some of the biggest fantasy sports operators, so that's a pretty fair comparison, maybe not in the way you intended.
