$30/£24 going in blind is something of a warning sign to me really, especially when they're trying to get people to jump in with tactics like "Only 50,000 available so buy now!!!!"

Plus it's Humble Bundle, if you've been PC gaming for anything more than 1 year then there's an extremely good chance that half of the unrevealed titles are something you'll already have.

Unless the later games are amazing this is totally not worth the asking price

Bit Trip Runner 2 is awesome

Psychonauts is overrated as strawberry float though.

I decided to get a steam link from the sale last week and gave it a whirl today. Lag was more apparent than I thought it would be, using homeplugs and tried Rocket League. I'll leave it for slower games when I use it in the future, me thinks. Not something I'll be using much at the moment anyway, but I figured it'd be good for when I move in the future just in case.

I considered a steam link too, but the lag I've read about killed that idea.

Just spent a few hours paying The Gallery - Episode 1: Call of the Starseed which came free with my vive. Holy gooseberry fool, room scale really is amazing, I man I've played the demos that came with steam vr, but playing an adventure completely immersed is something else. There was a tent pitched on a beach and I got on my hands and knees to crawl inside it before lying on my back and reading some text written on the inside with a torch.

There's no noticeable lag on a wired connection. And my girlfriend wasn't having any issue playing DMC with her PC being wifi to the router then wired to the Link.

I know most of you will instantly hate me for asking this but if you were going to buy a gaming laptop would you go for one of the big brands or configure your own for somewhere like PC specialist?

From what I can tell £1500 seems to be the sweet spot for an i7 1060 but I'm wondering if I'd be better off spending £1000 and upgrade in 3-4 years?

Just so it's out there: if you're not actually going to game away from home it will be cheaper to build a gaming desktop and buy a cheap laptop for day to day use, especially in the very long term.

Gaming laptops: the fastest way to cook £1,000 or break your back carrying it.

The sweet spot is £0, etc. :simper:

Don't listen to these guys, gaming laptops can be great. I had one for home use when I just didn't have the space for a full desktop.
Even though I have a gaming desktop now I still have a gaming laptop as well for when I travel with work or visit my parents. They don't always have to be huge heavy things.

My current one is from PC Specialist, they were offering the best bang for buck and they have some nice minimalistic chassis. My current one has a 970m in it and you wouldn't guess from looking at it that it's a gaming laptop.
MSI sometimes have some decent ones, but they're a bit more expensive unless you get them in a sale from somewhere like Overclockers.

Stay away from Alienware. They overcharge for the spec and look horrific.

It does all depend on why you want a gaming laptop though. If you intend to travel around with it because you're visiting other people's houses or going to be in hotels a lot, go for it.
If you're purely going to be gaming at home though, a gaming laptop is only really a solution when a desktop simply won't fit or isn't viable for another reason. You'll get more spec for your money with a desktop 99.9% of the time.

Sorry I should have made it clear that the reason for wanting one is for use away from home and while traveling.

I've looked at various sites and definitely prefere the ones that look like a stylish laptop than a teenagers toy. The razer blade looks nice but seem pretty hard to find in the UK.

Sorry for crossposting, but something reminded me I really need to sell this set of dual monitors. They're just in the way, boxed up and rearing to go - I'd happily keep them if I could afford to buy them from the owner myself. PM me if interested.

I wrote:I'm actually selling two matched LG IP224 1080p panels, they are either 21.5/22" (depending on how you measure it) which is a great dot pitch for working distance and dual monitor. I'm only looking for around £115 for both plus P&P, I believe they were £115 each new. I personally chose them for a video production company I'm liquidating them for, worked on them for 100s of hours, and they're fantastic. The bezel is a bit tacky, and don't expect much from the stand, but the panel itself is really good. Put them on proper monitor brackets and they're awesome. I'd have to check exact condition but I'm pretty sure they're in excellent nick as I would have murdered anyone pointing at them with a biro, boxed too with DVI/VGA cables and power adapters and all the polystyrene inserts so they will ship fine.

Here's a photo, IPS is lovely. The black is also pretty great, that's the other thing with IPS, the contrast is decent.

gog connect has updated with some more games. If you have them on steam you get them on gog for free.

Doesn't seem to be much love for Oculus (Or PC VR in general) on here but the Touch controllers are out tomorrow and getting great reviews, general consensus seems to be that it pushes Oculus slightly above Vive as a PC VR device (Although Vive tracking still seems to be slightly more accurate). There's some really great content out too and absolutely bags of free stuff (two free games for all pre-orders, rrp of around £60 and then another £100 or so worth for simply owning the software), I'm still waiting for mine to arrive (should have them by the end of the week) to really get to experience them but they look fantastic.

There haven't been a lot of games on the Vive that I've had interest in for the past couple of months, but hopefully with Touch out and Oculus timed exclusives releasing on Vive in the coming months (year? :dread:) I'll have something more to play (also I think some devs were waiting for Touch to release before releasing on any VR platform, just so they could release everywhere at once + more development time).

It sounds like most of the Oculus touch exclusives are compatible with revive so that's always an option rather than waiting!

I'd only go in for the free stuff (and the free stuff I'm most interested in, Medium and Quill, are only free with a Touch pre-order I think). Not risking spending money on something only for Revive support to maybe be broken accidentally or intentionally in a future Oculus software update.
