Interesting article on Eurogamer where Digital Foundry postulate AMD's newest Ryzen CPUs might finally give Intel something to worry about in the gaming enthusiast market.

http://www.eurogamer.net/articles/digit ... cpu-market

If those performances for those prices prove true I might start looking at upgrading from my 3570K this year.

You could pass it off as a 2017 game from an indie studio with a big budget and you'd believe it. Gameplay hasn't aged too well tho. I don't remember much about 3 at all, think I only finished it once cause I remember hating the ending so much.

Ha, I recently downloaded SH2-4 on PC and spent an afternoon getting them modded up. Still a couple of weird issues (graphical glitches in SH3, options menu takes circa 15 seconds to load) but man you're right, they really look stunning at the higher resolution and frame rate.

I'm quite fond of how the games play but there's undeniably some clunkiness to the controls+combat. I'm one of those weirdos that likes tank controls in the right context.

It would seem the Ryzen NDA has ended so there should be quite a bit of info out there now.

No reviews until launch day but the press seem impressed so that's encouraging.

How many games will make use of 8 cores though?

I haven't had an AMD processor since the AMD3000+

I was totally put off by their dodgy tactic of suddenly changing their naming convention to no longer being indicative of the actual clock speed and have never gone back.

With all the positive impressions I have seen luck this may make Intel start taking note in the market long term.

Downloading Gears 4 now. 101gb :fp: No chance I'll be testing that tonight then :slol:

Anyone who owns it on both Xbone and PC know if your profile carries over too seeing as it uses the same Live account?

Yeah, it'll be interesting to see what their i5 and i3 equivalents will be capable of and how competitive they'll be against the 7500-7700s as more standard propositions.

Affordable eight cores I guess is great for people who like to live stream a lot.

As I said, gonna wait to see the six core ryzen cpu prices, which apparently release in Q2 of this year. These 8/16 cores Ryzen cpu's release on March 2nd.

That's a ridiculously good price/performance gap. I was originally in the AMD camp as well.

I'll wait until I see some actual gaming comparions/benchmarks.

It'd be nice for Intel to actually get some competition, might make them do something about their pricing (yeah sure).

Dang, maybe I'll look into re-installing SH4 then. I never made it past the second area, the subway as

1) I am a big weenie who doesn't like scary games.

and

2) As you said the controls were pretty clunky.

SH4 has some terrific enemies but also some highly annoying ones. Such as ghosts you can't kill (if I recall correctly) but can be impaled temporarily with a sword. it's genuinely worth playing through. Still better than any of the newer SH games. Only ones worth playing are the team silent games (1,2,3,4) and silent hill origins for psp/ps2. Silent Hill: Shattered Memories may also be decent but I haven't played that one.

Where can you get the Silent Hill games on PC from? Only Homecoming is on Steam, which I enjoyed. Interesting how it is about £20 on Steam but I paid £15 on the 360 years ago.
*edit* enjoyed on 360, didn't pay the rip off £20 on Steam.

Yes?

Wait for another sale. It was less than £3 over Christmas.

The older ones were pre-steam so you'd have to go hunting on ebay or use less legitimate means.
