To new players who have come here via Steam: we just want to say welcome to the Realm of the Mad God! It is, we hope you'll soon agree, a very special and unusual place.

Please note that you will be dead soon. And it will hurt.

See, this isn't a game for the faint at heart. Death in RotMG is permanent. You will not respawn ten yards away from your corpse. Your precious gear will not lie in wait for you nearby. On the plus side, no one will be able to tea-bag your lifeless body while you watch. (This will probably come as small consolation to you, we're afraid.)

Oh I forgot about that other indie game building block.

Difficulty.

haha you die all the time golly isnt our game good, look at amount of playtime you get from it, jeepers arent we great

ps give us some money plz because we are going to have to eat our children soon

Yeah untick all that gooseberry fool and jsut leave the FXAA option ticked. I left sharpen ticked too as it made some of the textures a bit clearer

I found that with FXAA set to max quality I could hardly notice the difference with it on and off. Just some jaggies on the guy's jacket in Mafia cleared up.

Yeah it doesnt seem to have much of an effect sadly.

I had forgotten how ugly that game looks outdoors, its like theres a blur filter 15 feet away from you at all times, everything looks horrible and blurred at any kind of distance.

Poor MIP mapping? Or is that not used these days?

You're right. When I started it up I thought I was playing at the wrong resolution.

Wish I had bought Wolfenstein, now.

Anyone played King Arthur? Got it for free from IGN but not sure if it's worth the 7 gig download.

edit: Just Cause 2. I think I'll go back to that. :D Also, tried the FXAA thing on that. Also does absolutely nothing.

What's the general feeling around Metro 2033? Seen it cheap for the 360, but now my PC can probably run it, that's what I'd prefer. Yay or nay?

Seems quite a few PC games I'm interested are cheaper on Amazon than on Steam - where do you guys tend to get most of your PC games from? For example:

Mafia II

Steam - £19.99
Amazon - £7.50

Metro 2033

Steam - £14.99
Amazon - £6.76

The Witcher 2

Steam - £25.99
Amazon - £20.33

Kinda thought it would be the other way round really.

Steam. Mafia II and Metro are both Steamworks titles by the way.

If I buy disc versions of say Mass Effect 2 and Crysis off amazon, do they work with origin now? Or do they just install on the computer seperately? As much as i don't like having to use origin, wouldn't mind getting a few ea games cheap off amazon and having them all sorted together on origin.

Depends on the game. I think the cut-off point is Burnout Ultimate Box, so Crysis won't work, but Mass Effect 2 will. Your mileage may vary, of course (e.g. Bulletstorm won't work for me).

Well here's what I'm thinking of getting and what platforms they'll launch from i think:

Crysis-maximum edition (?)
Kotor 2 (i know this one will just install on it's own)
Rage (i know this is steamworks)
Mass Effect 2 (origin?)
Metro 2033 (steamworks according to maf)

is that right? Is there like a website that has what all the disc pc games launch from by any chance?

Crysis Max installs on its own and no possibility of a complementary Origin version, Mass Effect 2 installs on its own with optional Origin registration. Rage and Metro are both Steamworks.

What do you mean by optional origin registration for me2? Does that mean like i install from the disc but can register it on origin so i can just boot it up from that without the disc?

Will be a lot cheaper in the Steam sales. I don't bother with new releases now tbh, just wait a few months and they're usually 50%+ off on a steam sale.
