I used to think it was a keyboard game but it's actually a lot better with a pad. I bettered every time I bothered to retry with the pad in Nations.

The car physics are slightly different in this too. You need to brake more which is better on a pad I reckon.

I am with Bizzle, I prefer using a pad for TM.

My only gripe with it so far is that while there are clearly some rather powerful tools in here, there's almost no explanation on how to use them. I mucked around with the replay editor for about 5 minutes and have absolutely no idea how to use it. I just wanted to show the gameplay as I played it, but that video above was all I could get it to output.

I spent a good hour yesterday trying to work out how to flatten terrain before giving up then spent another hour trying to work out why an underground piece wouldn't place where I wanted it.

Here's what I wanted:

How do you get it to output a video like that?

In the editor, delete all the little red bars.

Have no idea how to put it back the way the game wants to do it, though. All the bars that you can put in are just effects (the DOF is quite nice).

Also, what the hell is an "Official Race" and why do I only seem to get offered them randomly? And you only seem to get one chance at them.

I don't think you get what I'm asking. When you go to the editor theres an option to 'Film' (or something) the replay and create an AVI, but I've done that and nothing seems to be happening, where does it put the file?

Once again, something totally unexplained, but one of the few things I managed to find via google. Still haven't got a bloody clue what an Official Race is, but it seems to give me skillpoints. Ho hum.

Official races are for the time trial leaderboards.

Something strange is going on, I've ended up with 11 files each 2 seconds long that are 1GB each...

What settings are you using? The uncompressed one doesn't work for me. Try the first Microsoft one.

I got it going by picking a ghost from the leaderboard as my opponent instead of a medal time but even then it was intermittent.
