Were you planning on suing them?

So what this is basically that their new terms and conditions that you have to accept in order to play games you already bought state you can no longer bring a class action law suit against them?

Is that it?

I can't see why you'd want to, but anyway, would that kind of forced agreement even stand up in court? Not that I know anything about the law, but it seems to me like it wouldn't.

I'm loving Civ V so far. I was working my way down and left of the map wiping out someone who had been declaring war against me all through the game before I got to his last city, realising that it takes a long time to build units up again. I had lost 4 main units I think so it wasnt too bad..I got his last city down to minimum health and then a neighbouring city ran a bloke out of the fog and stole it from under my nose :x

I think this mainly applies to the US and their fondness of Class Action Lawsuits but I'm surprised you would lose access to all the stuff you legally paid for if you don't accept new terms.

Well guess I'll be avoiding them from now on, and just when they were starting to win me over.

People on Gaf are saying that even banned accounts have access to their purchased games.

I don't think it applies in Europe anyway.

And the paid arbitration seems like a reasonable tradeoff.

Even so, a paid arbitration vs. a class action lawsuit seems like a reasonable alternative, though I'm sure the lawyers of Grcade might want to weigh in on the matter.

Arbitration - at least in the US - is a strawberry floating scam. Arbitrators who side with plaintiffs don't get employed again.

I still find it incredible that we have allowed it to be a legal term and condition of a user agreement policy that you not be allowed to launch a class action lawsuit.

It truly baffles me how we've let any company get away with it.

"We" don't, it only applies to Americans.

We should migrate GRcade to Flarum. :toot:

And yet "only arbitration and no class action" clauses are approved by the US Supreme Court and such every American company will include that in their contracts.

Just got to the Prisons in Amnesia.

So I'm taking a break for totally non-shitted-pant-related reasons.

Just thought i'd mention Symphony - came out on steam last night. Best summed up as Audiosurf - The Scrolling Shooter, it has interesting weapon unlock/ship design mechanics, whereby whenever you play a song for the first time it randomly generates a weapon you can buy with earned points, and these can be upgraded and placed on 4 weapon slots on your ship. You can choose their angle and whether they autofire or what mouse button activates them etc. Plus the usual chain combo mechanics etc and an actual plot - some evil entity is trying to break through into this reality through capturing the souls of the composers of your music collection - makes this really worth picking up.
