Just finished the first series (it's on the US Netflix) and really thought it was excellent. Particularly love that in addition to the main theme there is a Nick Cave song in every episode
It felt a bit like a cross between Deadwood and The Sopranos. Great cast and terrific writing, my favourite moments are the tense scenes of enemies at a table talking/threatening each other.
Going to start series 2 in a bit. Unfortunately S2 is not on Netflix so I had to resort to torrents.
BC Two has given the terrific Peaky Blinders a double commission. The Shelbys will officially return for series four and five... Excellent news: the BBC is bringing Peaky Blinders back for two further series after the conclusion of its third run.
The 1920s gangster story starring Cillian Murphy, Helen McCrory and Paul Anderson is currently airing its third series on BBC Two and is expected to start filming series four in 2017, with number five on the way after that.
There's no word on whether series five is planned to be the series' final outing, but few can argue that it would represent a decent number of episodes after which to say goodbye to the show. Creator Steven Knight has previously revealed plans to take the Shelbys all the way up to the outbreak of the Second World War, which would mean covering some serious time distance over the next two runs.

It seems whatever plans they had for season 7 will be spilt across season 6 and whatever they do to continue the story in another form. My guess is that a film will follow season 6 to wrap up the story for good.
“‘Peaky’ is back and with a bang,” creator and writer Steven Knight said in a statement Monday. “After the enforced production delay due to the Covid pandemic, we find the family in extreme jeopardy and the stakes have never been higher. We believe this will be the best series of all and are sure that our amazing fans will love it. While the TV series will be coming to an end, the story will continue in another form.”
A movie would make sense, as I'm sure they planned to end the series at world war 2 breaking out. That would be quite a lot to cover in just six episodes.
Probably not a bad thing, didn’t enjoy series 5 anywhere near as much as the previous 4 really, always felt like it was building to something that just didn’t happen.
Cillian Murphy confirmed to return for ‘Peaky Blinders’ movie later this year Filming is set to begin in September
The movie is set to begin filming at Digbeth Loc Studios in September, and will be set during the Second World War.
Knight also teased the cast of the movie, suggesting that it will feature some of season six’s characters: “In series six we’re bringing in the new generation, and they are going to be part of what happens in the film. I think it’s finding those actors that you just watch and you think, there you go. There’s the future.”
Netflix is also reportedly developing two spin-off shows from the award-winning series, set to follow the Shelby clan’s Boston operations, and a prequel about the life of a young Polly Gray, portrayed in the original series by Helen McCrory.
