When twitter shuts down (that'll be next month at this rate) vast swathes of the forum will become meaningless and people like Kaz will be hailed as prophetic heroes

Anyway I'd like to play this game :(

You could always get Game Pass Ultimate for a month and play it on Cloud.

Didn't expect to spend my evening reading arguments about Martin Luther but I like the game so far.

I know it’s not related, but the name just reminded me of a question on The Chase the other day, about Martin Luther King. It was along the lines of “Which civil rights leader was imprisoned at…” and the contestant answered Al Capone.

Yeah we talked about this in the GRcade WhatsApp group the other day. Famous civil rights leader Al Capone- good lord.

I started it, did the opening preamble and then pressed X for quests. And now it's locked up. At least there is one thing you can always rely on and that's Obsidian games being buggy as strawberry float.

Photek wrote:I can guarantee none of these people own an Xbox and actually played the game.

Grey skies swirled above him as the monk ran up the hill towards the Monastery of Truth, the wind buffeting his robes and forcing his chin down into his chest. Finally, breathlessly, he reached the heavy oak door. His weathered fist slammed against the ancient wood and after a few seconds it slowly groaned open, the inner warmth rushing out to greet his windbitten cheeks. He cautiously entered. As the door closed behind him with a deep thud, he approached the looming figure ahead of him with head bowed, fearful to make eye contact.

"Speak", hissed the figure, full of menace and anticipation.

"My lord Xbox Series X, I am but a lowly pilgrim of the Black Grail, but I come to thee with ill tidings."

"Speeeeeaaaaak", it hissed again, looming further over the monk, mantis-like, as it tasted the air around him.

The monk gulped and took a breath, hoping it was not his last. "I have received word from our ravens... of... of people on the internet pretending to play your games and then giving them bad reviews on Metacritic..." The monk cowered, preparing for the worst.

The beast recoiled, the monk's words seeming to cause it physical pain.

"Heretics!" it spat, the word hanging in the air with knowing malevolence. "Go forth and send word to my acolytes. They shall spread the truth"

Annoying I've got work today, just want to crack on with this and investigate the murder. Anyone else playing?

I'm not, but I really can't wait to start. I'm unable to divert attention away from Ragnarok right now - I will never be able to remember all the buttons.

"I never would have proposed making Pentiment without Game Pass. Like, I literally just wouldn't have done it. I just don't think it would have been possible."

"The old mentality of Publishers and Developers is generally focussed on larger investments with higher ROI (return on investment), and that's not the point in this environment, in this ecosystem."

"(Game Pass) is the only way in which I conceive of (Pentiment) being viable."

"For my own sake, making a game so different, I've completely shifted my thinking for (Pentiment). It is so unusual, so niche, it's for a small audience, and as long as that audience is into it, that's fine."

Will start playing it shortly.

Nearly completed act 2 and I'm increasingly convinced it's not possible to get the right answer. Or if it is, you need to be extremely lucky/ know what not to do from a previous playthrough.

Act 2 spoilers
-

10 hours left and I was going to accuse Guy but I've just spent dinner with the miller and I'm totally framing that abusive prick. Cheating on his wife with the innkeeper and his family are terrified of him. Guy gets a reprieve.

I can tell right away I’m going to bounce off this again and again until hopefully one day it finally clicks. At least it’s not going anywhere.

Failing persuasion checks all over act 2. Well and truly wrecked this.

Yeah it seems to be very hard to play this well first time through eh?! It's still great if a little frustrating for my lizard gamer brain that likes doing things "well" to be strawberry floating up with all the townsfolk.

Just getting into the meat of Act 2 now.

I think it's a testament to the game though that I'm not looking up ideal backgrounds and choices, just living with all my decisions. This is a first for me as I'm normally paralysed with too much choice in these games.

Feel like I completely strawberry floated up the second act. Didn't get a single persuasion check.

It's tough - the writing and characters are great. You enjoy spending time with them and want what's best for them, so it's frustrating to be strawberry floating up left right and centre through no fault of your own.

I guess that's what they're going for eh. Your experience as a player mirrors the experience of the characters.

I felt the same but I got a satisfyingish resolution to act 2.

What was your Act 2 resolution?

I accused Brother guy after I found out about his embezzlement and thus the cause of higher taxes. Figured even if he didn't do it I'd be offing a baddun at least!

But that led to him running to the mill, and the Abbey still being burned down and Andrea's dying etc etc
which I felt was unsatisfying and wondered if I could have done better.

I have now finished the game. I really enjoyed the third act, but I can see it being boring for some. Also loved the resolution to the overarching mystery.
