I've been using Saint Etienne in my Online Division 7 season but, after suffering a few defeats (i.e. four losses to Real Madrid

) I switched back to Lazio to give myself better chance of getting a result. It paid off as I stayed up. I'll probably have another go with Etienne in the new season.

Playing against Real is so tough; Ronaldo and Bale seem to win every header and they can score from almost anywhere. When I do break away, Navas pulls off stops even when I shoot from point-blank range. Oh well.

Just led Saint Etienne to an away draw against Juventus. Had to work hard in defence, but we took our chance when we got it. The 1-1 result feels good, especially as I was playing against a guy ranked 718

.

Unfortunately we missed out on promotion to Online Division 6. I needed 2,500 points for promotion and finished on 2,416 with 4 wins, 2 draws and 4 defeats. I'm happy though as I only used Lazio and Etienne.

Why not just be better teams and see if you can move up to higher leagues?

That's a valid question, shadow... and I am not sure why I don't :lol:

I like to set out as the underdog and work hard to gain a result. When using the top teams, you can sometimes just press the "shoot" button and if, say, Ronaldo is on the ball then he'll suddenly power a thirty yarder into the top corner or something. You don't really have to work that hard to gain a win.

When you usually play with a "lower" team and then do use a better one, it feels like your players are suddenly super-heroes

Anyhow, in the first match of the new season I've just gained a 3-3 draw with Saint Etienne against Barca. I stormed into a three-goal lead but made two silly defensive mistakes to let them back to 3-2 just before half-time. They gained the equaliser near the end as my players were just knackered. Great game, though!

Well, I just tried using Arsenal... and won 3-1 away to Real Madrid

. I dunno, though... I wil get used to their skills if I stick with them :lol:

Returned to using Lazio. Man, I got stuffed 5-0 by Real... but it was actually a close game :slol:

. I had more possession and more shots, but they scored from almost every attack they had. Three of their goals were from crosses and Ronaldo just barged my defenders aside.

Ah well, I bounced back to a 2-2 draw with Barca in the next game. Again, I dominated possession but they scored through some of their few attacks. I need to find a way to be more clinical in my finishing against the top teams.

I just enjoyed some great online matches with sawyerpip :-)

The scorelines didn't quite reflect the matches; I spent a lot of time battling hard in defence whilst trying to make the odd breakaway! sawyer is a good player and I think he let me off a bit sometimes. Even so, I was pleased to put up a bit of a fight!

No problem, thanks for playing. I think you're giving me too much credit there as I wasn't letting you off at all! Those were some good games, I think the second was our best one. I failed to make my early pressure count and you ended up taking the lead, and then either of us could have won it as we both had chances late on.

Played against Real Madrid seven times in a row

. I think most online gamers forget that they have a choice of a few hundred teams.

I got the "World Class" trophy yesterday for scoring from "over 35 metres". I was buzzing as it brought Lazio back to 3-3 against Barca with just two minutes left... and then they scored a lucky goal to win. Again, I was totally "

Whoop! Just got promoted from Online Division 7 to Online Division 6 whilst playing the whole season using Saint Etienne. I had a rough start (all those Madrid matches :dread:

) but have just won three on the bounce versus Barca, Liverpool and Germany.

So. with four wins, two draws and two losses - and two games to spare! - I'm back to Div 6 :toot:

I have switched back to Lazio for my new Online Division 6 season and played the first three matches:

So, a draw, a loss and a win. I played pretty well in each game and I was a little unlucky to be edged out by Barca as I had more shots on target than they did. Suarez just hit two stunners that my keeper had no chance with. I have learnt that, at this level, I can't afford to make too many errors and I need to hoof it out rather than play the ball around in defence too much.

Umm... Am I the only one who didn't realise you could dive in this game? I was playing a Master League game against the computer and in the 92nd minute the computer gets a booking for simulation in my box :lol:

Turns out you dive by pressing L1, L2, L3 and R3 all at once. I'm assuming it must be deactivated in online modes otherwise I surely would have come across it before?

Maybe a little bit better... but not a lot. I have used Arsenal in the past but I'm loathe to use, say, Real or Barca - mainly because the vast majority of players do so. When you use Real, you can press shoot and Ronaldo will strike the ball well from almost any angle.

Perhaps I'm lacking in ambition but I get more joy from battling against them using a lower team than I would by winning using Barca. I have more admiration for players who kick my backside using a lowly team... they've mastered the game inside out and can win against way better teams in a really tactical and skillful manner.

I think you're underselling using a top tier team, maybe I'm just using FIFA as too much of a comparison but still, try it, man!!
