I'm back! After a winless relegation from d6, I've won 3/4 in d7. Playing only as Stoke, I've beaten Barca, Liverpool and Chelsea. Liverpool game was 5-1!

If I get promoted, I really hope I can give a better account of myself next time.

That is really good going, dude :o . Whilst not a bad side, you're doing well to use them and get results. I've played as Arsenal in my current Division 6 season and I've stayed up. In my last game I faced a guy who played me off the park... but he got a little too flash and I somehow took my two chances to lead 2-1 with mere seconds left. But, dang it, he snatched a last-gasp equaliser from a huge goalmouth scramble. I couldn't really complain, though  .

Gonna return to using Lazio for my next season. I feel like I'm "cheating" if I use too good a team :fp:  .

Dominated a match as Lazio against Real Madrid... nine shots on target... then they break away and score on 90+2 with their only shot on target. Lost 1-0.

PES. Bloody hell.

Nah... I don't think I will. The feedback is a bit mixed and I'd rather hold off until the game is released. Hiopefully the kinks will have been ironed out by then. I've already pre-ordered!

Back in Online Divison 6, I lost the first three games of the season using Lazio. 0-1 v Real, 1-2 v Barca and then 0-2 v Besiktas. Totes couldn't get things to gel. But then I've just bounced back with a 7-2 v Liverpool.

So many ups and downs with the game  .

There are no kinks, just people who've never played online before and don't realise how bad their connections are.

Just about to get relegated from Division 6 with Lazio :-(. One game to go but I'm too far off... I'll probs give Palmeiras a run-out for that one. I lost six games by just the odd goal :x .

...and now I'll be going down to Division 8. I played with a new team, Saint Etienne, but they're not great* and I suffered five defeats and two draws in the opening seven games. Ah well, I'll have to re-group and work my way back again. Will probably return to using Lazio.

* Well, they're not when I use them, anyway  .

Bl**dy hell! PES :x .

I've just lost two games on the bounce 3-2 where I dominated the game but the other side scored three times from three shots on target! It's infuriating :x .

I need to git gud etc  .

The glory days of playing as Lazio in Division 5 seem a long time ago now. I'm back in Division 8, using Arsenal and *still* struggling! But, I may finally be turning things around. Just played as Arsenal v Arsenal and stormed to a 5-0 victory. Gotta build the confidence back again.

I seem to be getting worse at PES. I'm usually creating chances in games but I'm struggling to put them away... and I don't know why. It's frustrating.

Still enjoying the game, though. I may try using lots of different "lower" teams for a while, just to experiment and not worry about results.

I think it's so lifelike in that you can dip in and out of form. Trying some 'worse' teams might be a good shout, so the good teams will feel better when you pick them back up again.

Like you, my finishing is still poor. Nothing worse than working your nuts off to create a chance then seeing it fly off your striker's head or boot at a stupid angle. I keep thinking I should learn the totally manual shooting, but that would probably make me even worse.

I managed to get back to division 6 quite comfortably, and now I've started off so much better than I did the last time. I've had two narrow victories against Real Madrid, which were very satisfying*. I also lost 3-0 to Barca, but that's my only defeat in five so far.

* I'm ashamed to say, that in the first game, the guy was a bit of a nob, and he'd gone 1-0 up very early. I missed a hatful of chances, but had pegged him back to 1-1. I scored the winner in stoppage time and went into a full celebration belly-slide into the corner flag. That felt good, man.

Nice one, dude! Are you sticking with one team or switching around?

No shame in that, Poser! I played a couple of guys at the weekend who did things like constantly pausing and then not controlling their players. I don't know why they do it as it's just wasting their time, really... and if you beat them, so much the better :toot: .

I've been sticking with Arsenal. I played the entire campaign in D6 with Stoke last time and, while I didn't win a game, it made me a better player. I then breezed D7 with Stoke. But I wanted a bit more pace for D6. I've learned that finding a team with fast defenders is actually one of the most important things in this game, especially against Madrid. Arsenal's back four is like lightning and you can nick the ball off Bale/Ronaldo's toes quite frequently.

I'm actually disappointed that 2017 is leaving us soon, because I feel like I'm starting to get rather good at it. Just comfortably survived in D6, and I've almost always got the beating of Real Madrid now (unless being used by a really gifted player).

My overall play has hugely improved, too. I lost 4-2 as Arsenal, to a 670 guy using Barca last night, but I dominated and created so many chances. Really need to work on that finishing/being more ruthless in and around the box. Only scoring 2 from 12 shots on target is a bit embarrassing, even if his keeper did have an absolute worldy.

Poser's PES diary continued...

This is really clicking now, with some classic PES mixed fortunes thrown into the mix. I played a guy yesterday who was controlling PSG. I had 75% possession and had 22 attempts on goal to his three. I lost 2-0. :fp:

I played similarly well for a further two games, creating chance after chance, only to find my finishing was poor or their keeper was having an absolute stormer.

I might have to have a game against Sawyerpip at some point soon to bring me back down to earth :D

There is no doubt that it's super easy to get punished by guys using the "top" teams. If they're using Real, Barca et al then they can press Square and Ronaldo will spam a twenty-yard backwards bullet-header or something  . Their keepers regularly make world-class saves, too. I usually find that , to get victories against them, I have to somehow sneak a goal and then undertake a backs-to-the-wall defensive battle.

I think I once scored a goal against sawyerpip. Not gonna deny it, it felt like "badass" shades dropped down onto me in real life  .

I wish I had recorded some of the saves I witnessed last night. Just ridiculous stuff - clawing away pointblank headers, for example. Like the lovechild of Gordon Banks and Lev Yashin, mated with Peter Schmeicel. Not an attractive baby, but bloody good in goal.

For all that, I missed a tonne of chances, too. It still comes back to this question of learning to shoot properly. After I finish this division I might start from scratch and play some easy games against the COM with fully manual shooting.

Jawa - I think you are being too harsh on yourself there, I'm sure you beat me 1-0 in the last game that we had!

I haven't actually played much of 2017 since the 2018 beta was released as I played a lot of that and haven't really gone back, but if you see me online send me an invite and I'll try and join for a few games.

You're right, sawyer' :o ... in the three games you only just edged me out by the odd goal or so* :toot: .

I will keep an eye open for you guys online and pop over an invite to see if you want a few games :) .

* It was 10-2 on aggregate  .
