I struggled for months to hold L in (i.e. hold weapon behind you) whilst driving when playing Mario Kart... I have a feeling this R2 business is gonna require a similar time period of adjustment  .

I was thinking of messaging you about a match or two last evening, Poser, but it seemed like you were deep into Hotline Miami 2 :) .

Haha, yeah, I decided to get into it and take a break from Pro Evo (I've still not started that D6 season. I'm nervous )

(As an aside, HM2 is decent - I love that twitchy, fast-restart style of gameplay. Dying over and over again and growing increasingly tense while you master a level. :datass: )

Been on pretty late these nights, usually playing some Titanfall 2; but give me a shout if you see me on. Ready for some soccer!

Have you fronted up the new season yet, Poser?

Will do, dmin :) .

Meanwhile, in my first-ever Division 5 season I'm getting ravaged. Played 7, drawn 2, lost 5. I need to git gud etc.

Oof. Online Division 5 was tough and I took a few beatings including a 0-7 against Real Madrid. The guy was playing only his fourth PES 2017 game under his ID.... but he was bloomin' brilliant so has obviously started afresh.

My only win of the season was a 4-2 away victory against Barca in the last game - at least that dulled the pain a little :-).

Ah, well - back to Online Division 6!

I played one game

A solid 1-1 draw against Swansea. I started well but faded and by the end was holding on for a draw. I nearly scored with the last kick of the game but it would have been a complete robbery

Just got relegated to Online Division 7. Two successive relegations :-(.

I thought I'd survived... I thought a draw would be enough in my last game and, playing as Lazio away to Barca, I grabbed a 90+2 equaliser for a 1-1 draw.

It wasn't enough - I must have missed out by just a couple of points :-(.

Completed the next season and stayed in Online Division 7. A bit of a ropey start to the current one, though. I seem to be facing a lot of good players who have created a new PSN ID and started their PES careers afresh... the telltale signs are that (a) they've not played many matches and yet they have win records of 40 or 50%, and (b) they have a random-looking number at the end of their name i.e. "MadKillz1238" or something. There is no way they're that good soon after starting to play the game.

And they always use Real or Barca :| .

Edit: Or... I need to start playing well. Surely that can't be the case :o ... ;) .

Dmin and I were twice thwarted by the PES servers last night. Laggy as hell, and then the games dropped out completely. :(

Jawa - I have 0 wins from 6 in D6 so far. I'm not being thrashed, but just can't find the wins.

Ah, man, that's a shame. To be honest, I rarely get lag in the game - when I do, it's because my opponent has got a poor connection. Hopefully you'll get to play again!

A tough start! It does seem that Ronaldo & Co are even better at finishing at the moment... when I'm playing them, they seem to be even quicker than normal. Oh well... I hope that you soon start getting those wins, dude.

The 2nd game was the most disappointing to drop out; looked like it was going to be a goal fest with 3 goals scored in first 10mins!

It's fine sometimes for me but ive had lots of issues with dropped connections, which is why haven't played as much pes online. I've been blaming the pes servers but could well be a prob on my side, but I don't really understand why if it is. I've had good number of times when it works perfectly well. Also, I've played lots of other games online with no issues at all. Case in point, Titanfall 2 for the last month. Pretty annoying whatever it is :(

I thought you were going to destroy me, then I got that foothold back in the game (very pleased with that goal - thanks for letting watch the replay :D )

I think it might be me - my broadband is quite poor*, so that's probably it. But then again, I'd just played two Divisions games with no problems at all. Tough to say.

I wonder if it makes a difference which one of us hosts the game? Maybe next time I'll get you to create the game room and we'll see if that's any better.

If I see you chaps online I'll pop over an invite to play a few matches :) .

Poser, fibre is great - my broadband was terribly slow until it arrived... now it's smashing!

I'm imagining Poser leading his neighbours out onto the street, chanting "We want PES! We want PES!".

And then he invites everyone back to his 300 feet long kitchen for champagne and canapés :datass: .

No probs. It was a great chest which took it over my defender. I was admiring it too! :D

Back in Online Division 6 I came up against Juventus in my second match and I selected Arsenal (I needed a break from battling with Lazio... :shifty: ) . Unfortunately my opponent was a major tosser:

> let the timer run right down to zero without selecting start
> paused the game at kick-off and let the timer run down to its maximum (90 seconds?)
> didn't control his players until just as I was about to get my first shot in
> let the timer run to zero on every place and free kick situation; and again at the half-time break

I'm usually pretty chilled online but this guy got my back up. I battled like a dog and won 2-1 8-) . He was a 610-rated player, too... man, it felt good to emerge victorious :D .

Do these people just hope you'll get bored and quit? Glad you beat him, anyway. :toot:

I'm working my way through my Div 6 season using Arsenal. I came up against a guy rated 680 and he selected England. It was a real tough game and he was a better player than me but, through sheer determination, I managed to hang in there and gain a 2-1 victory. I think that is the highest level player that I've beaten in PES :) .

His player movement was amazing, though - they seemed to anticipate every ball and they shouldered my players out of the way in every challenge... I don't know how he was doing it. Is it something to do with pressing or holding R2? I've tried it but I can't see that it's doing anything.
