I started on the online divisions :toot:

It's very addictive. Beat guys who were using Barca a couple of times, which felt good. Also got pasted 5-1 by someone using Arsenal. Didn't feel good.

PES Universe have a good reputation for the quality of their option files. I am gonna give it a go later.

I still haven't tried it out but you could give it a go, KingK!

Nice one, Poser - it is cracking fun!

It really does - nothing like defeating guys who just spam Barca and Madrid! Recently I have played against a wide variety of teams and that was pretty cool... but last night must have been Madrid night. Nothing but Ronaldo... everywhere :dread: .

I was using Arsenal for a bit and drew 2-2 with a guy using Bosnia and Herzegovina! He was good, but I actually felt guilty for using a decent team!

I just played the number one ranked player in online divisions. He has a rating of 3,422 and has played 1,727 games with an 87.3% win record

He thrashed me 7-0  I only managed two shots and they were pretty speculative.

Yeah, I always feel bad if I win using a better team, too :fp:  .

:o . Wow, the top dog! In those situations I just try and keep the scoreline down and hope to gain the odd goal. A bit like when I played you the other night :) .

I probably should have tried that. At 2-0 in the second half I switched to 3 up front and ended up conceded another 5. One of my two shots was one straight from kick off in the 90th minute

The funny thing was I couldn't see anything he was doing differently to myself or other players. There just never seemed to be any space to pass into, my players were all getting closed down very quickly and in attack he always seemed to have more options. I'd like to get some tips from him just to see how he does it.

That sounds like when I got hammered 7-2 by a top (Division 2) player during the week; I think these high skilled players adapt their tactics on the fly i.e. instruct their team to move forward or hold back depending on how the game is going. It's clever as sometimes it feels like you barely have room to breathe.

Also, I played two matches in rainy conditions last night and it really affected my game. The ball sticks on the pitch and, with slower players, they become really slow. I wouldn't choose the rain myself but it makes for a challenging match when the other player does!

Oof. Just got relegated back down to Online Division 8 after a record of Played 10, Won 2 and Lost 8 in Division 7 :-(.

Hurrumph. Gonna take a break now but I'll be back!

This could be turning into one of the most addictive things I've played in a while.

I finished my first season last night so got promoted from 12 to 11 with a record of w3 d4 l3. My final game was a majestic 5-1 win over Inter, though.

Sort of wish I was playing it right now, tbh. :shifty:

Nice promotion, dude! The quick season structure of the Online Divisions element really does suck you in. Are there any particular teams you're using?

I'm off form at the moment and need to take a look at how I setup my teams. But I will play again tonight :toot: .

I'm tending to use Arsenal quite a lot just because I've become quite familiar with them. I played a few games with Lyon and I do intend to start mixing it up a bit. I just really rely on fast wingers, and my knowledge of European football isn't what it once was, so I need to do some research.

I always use a very attacking 4-3-3, with the midfield in a V formation (ie two attacking players) - I tend to try to press from the front and force mistakes/pick up loose balls. It's also a decent formation for counter attacks as your LWF/RWF are always very wide and in great positions.

The weakness is that you are vulnerable to the counter with just one DM.

A lot of my goals have tended to be scrappy still - quite often scoring from rebounds - but they all count :toot:

I might have to try that, dude. My Lazio line-up only has three at the back and, against wingers, I struggle a bit.

I'm getting ready to play a few games with SawyerPip in a moment... I'm probs gonna be mentally and physically strained afterwards  .

Good luck!

3-5-2 was always my standard formation dating back to ISS Pro 98 :toot:

Roberto Carlos (or, should I say, Lacros) was a demon in that wing-back role. I think the game has moved with the times a little and attacking full backs have become very useful in the game.

Whoop! I got three goals  . I started off well with Nice and Boca equalised late on before I snatched a last-kick winner. Sawyer then stepped it up and turned on the style using Ireland, albeit I scored two own goals to set him on the way :fp: . Bordeaux against Lazio was a tight game with sawyer's clinical finishing winning through. In the last game sawyer played to the strengths of a strong Ghana team whilst I just couldn't find a way through.

Brilliant fun - thanks for the games, man!

Those were some good games! I thought I'd managed to get a draw in that first game but you did well to come straight back with the late winner. Those two first goals in the Ireland game were unfortunate  :fp: It was always going to be tough to come back after that.

I haven't used the Friendly Lobby much apart from our games, can you have more than two in a lobby and spectate other games? It would be good if we could get a group of 4 or 5 together one day and have a little knockout competition or round robin.

I should be on later for some games.

Been playing online divisions too, up to 9 now. Haven't limited the matchmaking, so have been on the end of some thrashings against good players. However, have found a tactic which has helped a bit, which I like to call the mick mccarthy. Hoof!

I'm not sure either, sawyer. It'd be cool if it did work like that... although unfortunately I've not heard of a spectator option before. I'll take a look next time I'm on!

I can't be on tonight, dmin, as I'm Mario Kartin' on Monday nights, but I'll keep an eye out if you're on at another time :-).

One day, Poser, we'll get to have our online soccer battle :datass: .

Hey guys.

Incredibly, I'm free tonight and will be online from about 8pm if anyone fancies a game or two.

The lad is sleeping better now and my wife is out, so hopefully should be on for an uninterrupted session. (Which I have now jinxed completely).

Oh, dude, I would have been up for games on Tue and Wed night, but I'm gonna be out tonight! Hopefully we'll be able to play soon, Poser :toot: .
