Just done a few quests and oh my, it is a little bit of awesome.

You got that right.

Only problems: No quick-equip menu, meaning you need peace and quiet to change from a sword to a gun quickly and the selection of characters, whilst going back to the Human/Newman/CAST types from the DC and variations thereof (including traps, regen health and regen magic) most of the Hunter males (HUcast, HUmar) look about 5 years old. The RAcast and RAmar are much better looking.

We need to set up some online games soon.

Agree completely in regards to the faults listed, but I don't find it's detracted from my experience so far. Thinking about it, the lack of quick-equip may have been why they added the Gunblade weapon class. I was annoyed with the male Hunter options for the same reason, but went with the HUmar in the end as I like changing styles on the fly.

Can't believe they included a bit of tentacle rape in the game though.

There is also a pretty lame animé-esque mecha transformation scene after getting Ogi's second body which made me smile.

I went from level 12 to level 25 in a few hours last night after battling through countless area's. Have decided to enjoy the side-quests for now though, as I feel I may be rushing through the game a little too quickly.

More impressions, please. I'm tempted to get this.

What's the online like?

Online multiplayer with randoms, just like in PSO although it lacks the complete chat functions (you can select certain phrases from a menu). The chat, however, is there in its complete form if you play against people on your friends list.

I've been enjoying it offline aswell, as you get a team of NPC's that follow you around and you can issue orders to effect the way in which they support you; for example, you can tell them to put safety first, where they'll switch to long ranged attacks and heal you when they get the chance (useful as you are usually accompanied by a Newman who heals rather generously).

If you enjoyed Phantasy Star Online or any of the previous games in the Phantasy Star Series then this really should be on your list as it's fantastic.

 :fp:

I only found out about charging attacks and techniques a day after getting the game, also. I really should read the hints or the manual. :fp:

I now have no complaints about the game other than the younger looking characters. Perfection.

Level 30.

Ive spent 2 days trying to decide who to play as :fp:

I wanted the HUnewman but that bare flesh and cat suit arent to my tastes and the RAmar seems out of place. I did try my old HUcast from PSO but he really looks like a chibi version.
I really wanted a FOmar but using guns means you magic sucks and using just spells means lots of stat management which would be fine but the FOnewman has regen TP but he looks like a clown.

Im going to either persevere with the FOmar as his ATP gets higher later on and using Mechguns means he does a cool roundhouse kick to cast spells or its a sniper RAcast with a rifle.
Im such a dumbass!

Completed the main story last night and unlocked hard mode. Did a little bit of levelling this morning and got my HUmar up to level 39. Before turning it off, I finally got around to checking my player stats only to be bombarded with unlockable rewards. I wish I had bothered before as the extra stat materials would have given me more of an edge when I faced the final boss.

On the plus side, it's great fighting alongside Sarisa and Reve as their techniques come in very handy.

I can see why you had some trouble choosing your class, Carlos. I was going to start over with either a Cast or Newman, but I just can't make up my mind as there are far too many choices and I don't want to regret it after doing some level grinding. :(

I eventually went with the RAmar due to my inner cowboy.

Started over with the FOnewearl and got to level 60 in under a week.

Forces are so damned powerful in this game, casting a high level Gimegid followed up by a Razonde can clear any room in mere seconds. Love this game far too much.
