I had one as a kid but it was lost during a house move and so to finally track one down after all these years is quite an achievement as far as i'm concerned (though sadly the free poster was long gone).

On that topic, I'm desperately trying to track down an issue of the dandy from that time which published a cartoon of mine. I know it was from around then because I got sent a beano 50th anniversary poster as a prize (it was a giant 50 cake with characters all eating their way through it.

Any ideas where to start? Is there an online archive somwhere?

I had the cake poster on my wall for years as a kid (it's the same one as what was bundled with the issue i posted above).

Not sure where you should really start looking as there's no archive as far as i'm aware, though it might be worth sending a quick email to dc thompson as they might be able to give you an indication as to which issue it might have been.

That said, any time you come across a pile of comics at a boot sale or a collectors fair, always buy any which is close to that date as you might just stumble across it through sheer chance.

On a similar note, there's a Beano special which was published in the early 90's as an A4 size story (as in not one of the smaller comic library series) which was called The Grand Slam, and featured Dennis winning wimbledon. I've been searching everywhere for it but have always come up blank, haven't even been able to find a pic online of it.

I love challenges like this!

So firstly I found this:

https://comicvine.gamespot.com/beano-sp ... 00-637186/

So it's Beano special #21

And as a result, found this:

https://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/Lot-Bundle-8 ... SwX05bbffw

the second one down on the right is the one you are looking for. If you're desparate, you can get it for that price - otherwise, at least you know the issue number you're looking for!

Valkyria Chronicles 4 demo left me in the mood to replay the original. Also got the Adventure Zone graphic novel. Got into the podcast after someone recommended it on the forum, so thanks!

That was probably me, I've been singing their praises for ages. I have no real interest in the comic but would be interested to hear how well (or not) it turned out.

The forum glitched out while loading for a minute there and I thought you'd bought a pair of trainers for £429, was about to ban you for flaunting.
