We've never seen vermys face, all we know is he's a white male (due to his hands in his videos), probably in his 30s/40s...
Who else fits that description? Stool bloke!

Stool bloke is the doesn't give a strawberry float king of the gammons. Vermilion aspires to be him, but just doesn't have self-confidence. Or a garden chair.

new set coming out and I need stuff for the world championships... so I bought a lot of pokemon cards

probably around £220 across sealed product, singles, and other bits and pieces

A lot of them haven't turned up through the post yet beacause they're pre-orders but as an example here is a photograph (hopefully it is not too big, I don't use imagr much)

Image

these ones cost £35 all in

probably won't even use the significant majority of them

I found an as-new Tetris Bop-It tucked beside some cardboard boxes left outside a charity shop, with the label "PLEASE ANYONE TAKE THIS NOISY ITEM. Thank you!". That's right, I'm pretty sure the charity shop didn't even want this, so put it outside on the floor.

It's actually pretty fun and £20 on Amazon so hey ho. I'm keeping it as my desk fidget toy as I've been pretty restless lately.

It’s the fifth or sixth time I have purchased these same trainers because I’m not really bothered about my causal footwear and it’s easier just to buy the same ones every few months

You'd probably be horrified by the fact I'm currently wearing a pair of second hand Nike's my brother gave me in Japan in 2011.

Shoes can last quite a long time.

Can't fathom wasting as much money and as RichardUK. The carbon footprint must be insane as well from all the products you needlessly replace.

No not at all, when I said every few months it’s around 6 months and it’s not because I like buying new ones or just do it for the sake of it, it’s because I really do wear them out and now my current pair will be used still for things like gardening etc until they are replaced with these ones when they really can’t last any longer, I know a lot of people have loads of pairs of trainers and like the lastest designs etc but I’m not like that, I literally just have these and wear them all the time apart from if I’m wearing formal shoes

Shoes can last quite a long time.

When I used to walk to work, Id go through shoes in no time, if I got 3 months out of a pair I would be doing well.

Maybe I need to get out more.

They're remarkably durable trainers though. I have glued the soles back on but it was just glue to begin with and glue fails, but all the parts, stitching leather etc are fine so good as new.

Not cheap either so I guess I'm lucky, I go through maybe a few pairs of shoes every 3-4 years rarely buy anything more often than that and I tend to get discounted good brands.

Holy strawberry floating crap dude, I could make that stuff for under £300. Get to know a good leatherworker if you're going to spend that much on a high street chain.

I'm kind of serious, why not support independent craftspeople, so you can get something unique? Nobody cares the shopfront it came out of :(

That's literally over 60% of my rent I paid yesterday. On the south coast. In a historic town. On the high street.

I'm happy you enjoy buying these things but I'm equally sad knowing how much it actually costs to make all this stuff.

Edit; Actually you've kind of motivated me to get on with my work in the shop rather than checking GR for new posts, and to build my brand, so thanks for that..

Like the cap I bought the other day. 100% cotton, pigment died, really welled hemmed, stiff 3 layer brim, triple stitched. Made in China like most "premium" brands. £2.80. £2.80. I can stick an embroidered patch on that and charge, what, £50, £75, £100?

Because that's honestly how it works, it's utterly insane.

Did you just go to the FENDI website to check the price? lol
I totally understand where you're coming from actually. O well whats done is done. Btw I haven't bought an expensive wallet for more than 10 years actually. The last one was a Louis Vuitton and back then they were going for £200 but now over £300.
Feel free to link me to some good quality and value leather goods. I do find them interesting and wouldn't mind getting something. Whats your brand?

I was given a £20 or so fat Face buffalo leather wallet, really soft and supple loads of compartments, canvas inner. I'm still using it, about 10 years later. And that's my richest family, aunt and uncle (about 2 million in assets at the time). They lived in what most would describe as a small castle.

It's a very very expensive wallet dude, enjoy it. I love leather products, I have a secret obsession with bags (I only have about 8 really and most of them just have gear in all the time), but none of them cost even 10% of that. Now I'm going even cheaper as I'm hooked up with blank apparel suppliers that make up a huge proportion of the retail industry that is literally just rebranded screen printed or some applique etc. and wham 1000% profit. Bit of an eye opener and a not-so-closely guarded secret, some really nice stuff out there.

Not patterns and things, I get nice shirts from fat face / white stuff 90% of the time and rotate those for many years. Couple of chinos etc.

I could understand with the funds available, a occasional super expensive fashion item.. understand, not sure I could ever shake the frugality though. I've often thought even if I won the lottery I'd live exactly the same (I doubt that's true).

Edit: I've thought about it a bit more an there is some stuff I spend money on.. equipment. I can pay 10x as much for something that is a professional standard, and will be a workhorse pretty much indefinitely, but that's a business investment, I guess some people would say buy cheap make the money and then buy better but I tend to go all in, some people would think that's too risky, some people would think it's smart.

I bought a £1050 guitar second hand for £750 for example. You can get an electric guitar for £50. But at that time I'd been playing for 13 years. I guess it's comparable.. if someone really loves their wallets and watches.

Sorry if that sounds mean.

Edit: I don't really have a fashion brand, I just make stuff. But there there are people out there who do traditional leatherworking methods and branding, you can even do it yourself. It's a pretty interesting subject. Here are some cool videos of what leatherworking can look like:

There are plenty of nice things on Etsy:

Here are some peeps at a makerspace my friend opened in Portsmouth learning to make their own wallets out of leather:
