Don't know why I bought the D&D set, as I've got no friends! I'd just been listening to a few D&D podcasts, and it got me interested in reading the rules.

I have a friend IRL who has a lot of D&D 5E books, but no real plans to use them any time soon -- he just really enjoys reading through them, and having them around just in case a chance comes up.

Picked this up from a specialist silver stall in Brighton last weekend for £17, and it is absolutely gorgeous!

I believe I had a £5 coin of the millennium dome from the Royal mint. I spent it in Woolworths.

Edit: I think it was the "millennium coin"

But I still have two of the 40th anniversary coronation £5. That's my googling for the day.

I didn't realise you could actually spend £5 coins, i just thought they were commemorative collectables.

They're valid currency. I thinks that's what the sites and sellers documenting them mean by "uncirculated" as in the condition is not circulated and they have not been issued to banks.

Anyway Im pretty sure it was accepted as tender.. Maybe they talked me out if it. They asked me if I was sure. Can't really remember. anyone could have just swapped it for a fiver and probably did.

Edit: it's legal tender but that only actually means that it can be used to settle a debt in court. Shops aren't even obliged to accept change or coins over a certain amount of denominations. But they can choose to accept a £5 or £20 coin, although they would probably have to go through the hassle of selling it to someone else to get more widely accepted tender back, as even banks won't take them in (they don't have the machinery to weigh or count it).

The last one of those TV adverts for a commemorative coin had a notice on the advert that said something like "Only legal tender in Jersey".

Speaking of legal tender, there's a paddington bear 50p presentation pack being released on monday.

Will likely pick one up at some point.
