I don't know I thought we (the Solar System) moved through space, but I didn't think it'd be like that.

Well, if you look at it as a static system, it moves like we know, but if you factor in the fact that the whole solar system is traveling around the galaxy at a high speed, that's what it'd look like if you tracked its course.

Interesting thing about physics is that all movement is relative, so things only move in relation to other things. The sun is stationary relative to the planets but moving relative to the universe as a whole, so you could plot the relative course of the planets around the run as circles but then plot their relative course to the universe as seen in above image and both would be correct.
