Reviewing well

As I was playing through Pikmin 4 and things really started to click, I thought to myself (with a smile on my face) – "I just want to play this forever." It's a strategically satisfying game if you want it to be, and it's a chill rainy-day adventure if you're going for that vibe. This is one of the releases I'm going to set aside time to 100% this year, and like Pikmin 3's Bingo Battle (which I still play!), I'll be jumping into Dandori Battle from time to time with my family.

Pikmin 4 fills itself and your time with a rich array of things to do, things to find, goals to chase and places to explore. It may start slow, but when it all comes together, it really does sing. It preserves the series' oddities - it doubles down on them in some regards - and yet opens the series up in a way Pikmin has never managed previously. It's a fine reward for a decade of fan patience and a lot of thought by Nintendo's top brass on how best to continue after Pikmin 3. It's a skillful evolution of a series which has been left feeling a little overlooked for too long. Is this Pikmin's true breakthrough moment? Who knows. But without a doubt it's one of Nintendo's best games in years.

Pikmin 4 is a smart and content-packed refinement of one of Nintendo's most underrated series, but long-time fans may be put off by how long its generous campaign takes to get going.

VGC mentioned still playing past the 15 hour mark so sounds like it’s lengthy

Excellent reviews but am I wrong in thinking that just like its fellow Gamecube series Luigi's Mansion - I prefer when things are a bit shorter and stripped back?

That's the sweet spot I think, 15-20 hours

This year for Switch has probably been my favourite so far and we still have a bunch of games still to release!

Finally, someone else who loves Bingo Battle :slol: I'll be excited if Dandori Battle can match up to it!

Thinking day one for me, although I am hesitant to distract myself from Zelda.

I'm the same as I'm not really at a natural point to drop Zelda but I'm gonna take a pause for Pikmin. I think a breather from Zelda will do my good in the long run.

I did the demo last night, an extremely slow start but the changes they've made to the formula, although reasonably small, are looking good.

My copy has arrived :toot:

Did you get anything special for having a save file of the Demo on your Switch? I chose not to import but wondering if I’ll now miss out on something

Sounds like it's just some consumables (bomb rocks?). If so, I'll also decline. I hate it when games give you a "bonus" that makes the game easier. The Gold editions of Assassin's Creed games usually include some high-spec armour or weapons, and I refuse to equip them.

You can buy them in game anyway, it's literally just a free set of them (not even many) just to get you started.

I min maxxed the best I could in the demo and got 2500 power (got all the treasure right next to the drop off point so when I was done with the demo I could just put it all in at once) so I carried over my save.

This is what I spent the past 2 evenings doing with the demo :datass:

Hoping it arrives today so I can carry on with it!
