I am of the opinion that people buy and indeed like platform specific games more than cross platform games. With this in mind I’d also argue that a few games that I’d say are ‘average’ can be somehow elevated to being better than they actually are.

So, with this in mind, I’d like to see what your opinion is.

Of course there are some games [Uncharted/Halo/LBP/Gears] that are brilliant games in their own right and the argument is their that they might not be as good on differing platforms as they adhere solely to the specific capabilities of what platform they are on.

Cave Story is great no matter what platform you play it on.

The strange thing I find is that, I would hate to see the PS3 get Halo. I don't really know why. I'd guess I'd see it as some sort of betrayal of MS [a huge corporation]. Ridiculous really. :fp:

In the past you might have had a point.

Now however you couldn't be more wrong. For every single format game you can name, there are several (or more) multiplatform games of similar or better quality.

Yeah, I think so too, that why I voted CP.

On the flipside though, I could be missing out. Take Infamous for example, to me it looks like a super powered GTA rip off but it's probably more than that, yet I can't see anything that I find appealing. Conversley, PS3 owners who've never played Crackdown will think the same for Crackdown 2.

You pick the games you want, then pick the platform that offers them.

If you'd rather Zelda than Mass Effect you buy a Wii. If you'd rather Splinter Cell than MGS you get a 360. Cross platform games are no different because most gamers do actually have only one console and as far as the average PS3 owner is concerned FFXIII may as well be exclusive because he doesnt have a 360.
Single platform games often justify a console purchase, especially Nintendo and on all 6 formats are better than cross platform games.

If you want to remain platform agnostic, get a PC.

Prototype is probably a better point of comparison, since it is another similar Superpowered GTA rip off that happened to come out at about the same time as Infamous, but was multiplatform, and doesn't, I feel, suffer too badly for the comparison.

I really don't mind - there's some platform specific games I love, and some cross platform.

I have to say though, for the Wii, it's almost all platform specific games, while for the XBox360, the majority of game I have are cross platform.

I own all three consoles, so I'm not really fussed.

Until about 6 months ago all of my games were exclusives. Not through any conscious decision they just tended to be more my sort of thing and very few multi-platform games appealed to me.

i still buy (most all) my multi-platform on 360, but InFamous alone (for me) justified the cost of my 60gb PS3.
so the answer would be both.

Newcastle 1 - 5under1and 1 ;-)

I don't see why a PC makes you platform agnostic. It has its exclusives and misses out on other games like any platform. Granted, the reasons are often different but the end result is the same.

Because - sooner or later - most things end up emulatable?

This and the fact most 360 'exclusives' and up on the PC as well. With a good enough controller, some illegal nefariousness and a powerful enough rig a good PC makes a very good replacement for any of the 3 consoles.

Please explain "illegal nefariousness".

We should migrate GRcade to Flarum. :toot:

Game images are technically illegal, i guess? We don't actually have "fair use" coverage in the UK, do we?
