It would be pretty mental to cut your prospective console sales by 60% to 70%, after the initial deal has expired, wouldn't it?

Apparently Blue Hole are the ones that have instigated the further exclusivity talks. There could be lots of factors involved here other than money.

- Dev kits for Windows/Xbox plus platform support, (something brendan greene has already said has happened and will make the game on PC better as a result)
- They aren't big enough to handle making it for PS4 AND Xbox One at the same time.
- They want MS to spin up some Azure servers at a discount to help with the problem of having the worlds most concurrent gamers online.
- They needed a Publisher.
- MS funding the Xbox version completely. The people who wrote the Netcode Anticto (in spain) are handling the X1 version, MS have sent over staff to help out which means that Blue Hole can focus exclusively on PC version.

It's arguable that all of those things are various types of investment, so they're mostly financial incentives. It's possible Sony would off similar support if needed. covering some of the points.

Well yeah, A lot of it is to do with MS simply getting there first. Before any deal was struck the head of Xbox platformMike yBarra, Phil Spencer and others were constantly talking about how great PUBG is so just like Sony getting Japanese exclusives and Sony, maybe MS just copped on to this a bit earlier. MS also has a very active Preview program which was hinted at before deal by blue hole, plus they do own Windows, I reckon 90%+ of PUBG players run windows.

It is also possible Sony are not offering any support, it is reasonable to assume another developer is working on a more console friendly AAA Battle Royal game. Why pursue this when MS are already there first, and a suitable replacement is right round the corner?

I mean I love this game, but it is very, very rough, and no where near finished

I think it's a major jump to assume that there is a Sony is working on an exclusive battle royale game. This game is a service based one and is in it for the long haul with maps and guns being added for the next 10+ years according to Brendan Greene.

Jiggles I meant on Steam obviously.

He didn't say it would be Sony working on such a game, nor that it would be exclusive.

If, say, DICE were working on a console-friendly Battle Royale game, or if it was simply going to be a mode in next year's Call of Duty, the future of PUBG on consoles would look pretty bleak.

The problem Bluehole have is that there's not really much *to* the game. All the systems are laid bare and there's no real "secret sauce" going on under the hood. They were lucky enough to be the one that blew up, but now the genie's out of the bottle and it will be trivial for any decent studio to replicate the product.

CoD would need an entirely new engine, DICE could probably do it though. I think this will sell big on Xbox, and just like Minecraft, its popularity will mean that it'll remain at the front of the que for BR games just like Minecraft has at building malarky.

It's awkward, Epic make Unreal and PUBG runs on Unreal 4. I do think something will happen about it tho.

PUBG final release and Xbox One Preview version planned before the end of the year.

We only have 11 weeks until the end of 2017 and we know you have many questions about our development roadmap. To make sure we deliver PC 1.0 version and Xbox Game Preview by the end of this year, our development team is hard at work day and night.
