Xbox Game Preview Patch Notes #4

Xbox players,

Quick update; we are pushing a fix for an in-game issue that was undermining the core experience for some players.

As part of that update, we have decided to include some additional performance and gameplay improvements, as well as a new controller option.

We want to thank our community for the continued feedback and look forward to the discussion that the changes below bring.

Gameplay

Pistols have been removed from Y button's weapon rotation and grouped with the melee weapon.
Players can now equip pistols by pressing 'up' on the D pad.

Optimization

Continued improvements related to player “rubber banding”.
Enhanced server performance while parachuting.

Option

Added a new controller preset to options menu.
Type B (new preset) now supports:
Holding LT to aim down sight.
Holding LB to use 3rd person perspective aim sight.
Controller guide has been updated to include the new controller preset.

Bug fixes

Fixed an issue where players repositioned out of the battleground after certain actions and remained invulnerable until the end of the match.
Additional memory and non-memory related crash fixes.
Fixed the inability to join duo/squad through invites outside of game.

Known issues to be addressed next patch:

Dropping objects causes the player to switch weapons.
User is unable to switch grenade types when tapping right on the D-Pad.

Holding LT already feels better. They're going to change the hold breath button next, as that requires the claw grip at present.

After a few more games yesterday, I made it to 5th place twice, mainly just by hiding, and sneaking my way into the circle as it got smaller. Trouble is I then seem to be up against players who are properly tooled up, and so I've no hope in close quarters. Getting more of a feel for it, and unlocked a new t-shirt. Are those cosmetic unlocks the only progression rewards in this?

Just clothes and stuff yeah. I play only on FPP servers now. One of my favourite online games on Xbox ever tbh. I’m terrible at it but can’t stop playing it.

You’ll find that the hiding will gradually turn into confronting others but a healthy dose of stealth and gun fights is the way to go.

Also alternate hiding runs with hectic area’s. Every second game land in a city or for maximum lunacy land on the school roof (in middle of map) cos about 20-30 people do the same, it’s something of a PUBG meme.

Just went to get my second crate only to discover the cost has doubled from 700 pretend funbucks to 1400 pretend funbucks. :|

Might try a game where I play a bit more aggressively. The last one I did had me land somewhere in the circle until some of the later area restrictions. I tooled up and sat in a shed with my ADS trained on the door for about 10 minutes or so, while I sat and read twitter on my phone.

It doubles for next crate but every Monday the crate system resets to 700 and starts again so just stockpile till then.

But I want a naff cosmetic item that I'm going to swap out the moment I find a replacement for it in game now. :(

So the other night mate and I had to cross the bridge to the south island cos the circle ended up there. When we got to bridge we seen that a duo had a road block set up. We parked up and decided to wait for another car to cross and we'll go across with them to lessen the odds of being murdered. thing is, about 4 vehicles crossed at same time. I was in first person so couldn't really tell. 1 car hit a parked car on bridge and exploded, we drove through the explosion and mate then shot guy off another car in front of us and I ran him over. It was all rather epic and I have a gif of it here:

I love playing this in FPP but by strawberry float is it hard. Reckon I've got one kill in about 3 hours.

I switch between both modes now, the FPP players seem to be the elite dudes who’ll kill you in an instant, in TPP you still find noobs.

I always play in FPP. I just hate the idea of someone hiding behind a wall and seeing me approaching a mile off without having to reveal themselves even slightly.

Yeah I guessed the standard is quite high as I often don't see the people that kill me. I just prefer first person perspective, it's much more immersive.

Im definitely going to have to invest in a decent headset to play squads. I went almost a whole game without a gun but a stash of sights and modifications

Auto Run might save my controller from the infamous 'drift' that plagues my other controller.
