Player Unknown's Battlegrounds [PUBG] - Xbox-PS4 Cross play is Live.

Just had a new driver update which with the new optimisations supposedly gets the game running at 60fps on my card upwards (1060 6GB) and auto records kills etc.

My first game :dread:

Immediately jumped out the plane by accident
Looted some stuff and got a pistol
Stalked someone and killed them
Looted some more
Realised I was literally at the opposite corner of the island from the circle
Found a jeep and ran someone over (their torso got stuck in the hood and kept flapping about)
Rubberbanding and the jeep suddenly flips onto its side despite being on flat ground?
Died because I was outside the area.

Was the game significantly worse than this before the patch or something because for an early access game it seems fine?

Something to look out for in your next game. If you've not updated properly then take note of your settings then delete & reinstall your game.

The lag was awful on release day but since then there hasn't been any major issues.

It had a slightly less stable framerate (on X1X) but even now DF are saying people should avoid this. I think it’s perfectly playable.

That’s weird, it has version on top left of title screen, going by screenshot I haven’t got update ‘properly’ but I’m not reinstalling cos it’s running fine.

That's incredibly harsh from them. The frame rate is obviously bad when jumping out of the plane and that but it seemed stable for me everywhere else. I'd say the input lag is a bigger problem right now.

There's another 4.4GB update just out.

2 patches in a couple of days, least they getting finger out, I’m sure MS is insisting.

Yeah, because it's game preview, you basically have to re download the whole game whenever they patch it. Annoying, but at least it isn't too big (unless you have a data cap).

Had two crashes in two separate games last night when I was in the 20s

Peter, Monkey, Chalky and I played squads last night, it was a great laugh. Peter following chalky who was flanking completely negating the word flank then running into a building with another squad was hilarious. Only topped by chalky jumping out a window with no bullets into an enemy. :lol:

I need to look up how to change settings cos you can only hear me in the stream.

The mass brawl we had at the start of one game where we had 20 people all pile in on one poor bloke was pretty great.

Quick update; we’ve released a server side patch this evening that addresses one of the lower frequency crashes as well as reduces intermittent in-game lag.

In addition we’ve made progress on the authentication issue that many players have encountered and we hope to completely resolve that issue soon.

We are still very focused on releasing a client side patch that incorporates some of the community feedback that has been raised, as well as priority bug fixes. We’ll have more to share on the timing of that patch in the upcoming days.

This may be a bit of a mess at the moment but I have to say I'm quite impressed they seem to be trying to fix things given they could just say "It's Christmas" and using that as an excuse to do nothing like has happened with Destiny 2.

Is this playable on Xbox One S as I just got it for Christmas but I was under the impression it plays like gooseberry fool on console on anything other than X?

It's perfectly fine for an early access game from what I've played. Digital Foundry's criticism has been extremely harsh.
