Most of the PR was about this LAUNCHING on 12/12/2017, they seemed so desperate to have something, ANYTHING, to compensate for that Crackdown 3 release.

I wouldn't be concerned, but the fact that this has always ran like ass on anything other than a high end PC doesn't bode well for the Xbox version.

What's this about Crackdown 3?

We should migrate GRcade to Flarum. :toot:

I was referring to the delay, it was going to be their big Xmas game.

I think he means compensate for Crackdown 3's release being delayed till next year, it was initially supposed to be released on the same day as the X1X.

That's coming to windows as well isn't it? That's a shame, I had it in the back of my mind as an upcoming game to buy.

What's odd is that Fortnite plays great on the ps4.
I know Battlegrounds may be slightly more complex but to make even the OX struggle seems really odd. There has got to be some major problems with the game to have the performance issues it has as it's not like it's got jaw dropping graphics to handle.

I just feel it’s a major strawberry float up. You can argue early access as much as you want, but in this instance MS are putting boxed copies on retail shelves- you cant do that and expect the level of lenience that early access provides also.

It’s massively more complex and the island is about 10 times the size.

Seems like the problem is more to do with the processor (still based on Jaguar) rather than graphics (resolution, textures etc).

Maybe shrinking the size of the map or reducing players could help as Dice did with Battlefield on consoles.

Good to see you watched the video you linked rather than read the thumbnail. ;)

Yep its the CPU, they may look at reducing player count but I think off the bat it will look to try and get it running better as it currently is. It's not like its massively optimized for PC either.

Yeah I'm not surprised it's having issues given how badly optimised it already is on PC, particularly in the starting area + flight as those always take an FPS hit for me on PC.

Just like on PC though it's most stable on indoors sections.

Out of curiosity what are your specs? Still one I'd like to get but just wondering how it'll play on my PC.

I've mostly played it on:

16GB RAM
i5-6600 CPU
GTX 960

But I recently upgraded from the GTX 960 to a 1070, so I can bump up settings a fair bit mercifully; before that I was having to resolution scale 90% for anything resembling consistent performance, which as you can imagine looked pretty nasty.

Haven't had as much experience with the 1070, but I've found that regardless of settings I'll still generally get drops in the same places, unless you have a monster CPU I'm not sure those can be avoided. At the very least, if you have a similarly high card the graphics settings won't be a bottleneck as much as just the unavoidable woes of the game's engine.

Hope that helps :) Might be worth hearing from other folks in the thread with their experiences before making a decision

Hey, settings screens are hard to parse if you've never seen one in your life.

To be fair the normal xbox is getting on now and can be picked up pretty cheaply I'm not sure anyone was expecting it to be much better than medium even in a best case scenario where the game was ultra optimised. If we were at the start of the generation then maybe it would be strange but not now and with a game as seemingly unoptimised as this for any system is it really that much of a shock?

I'm not sure what point you're trying to prove here by pointing at one poorly optimised game.
If you're trying to say the One X is gooseberry fool then you'll have to have more evidence than this and surely by now everyone knows the current gen has a weakness in the CPU department that's not exactly a new discovery. Sure some games are going to run like gooseberry fool but then again we have games like Horizon which look amazing so again what point are you trying to prove?
