Tried the mobile version of this tonight. It was gooseberry fool.
Given more time I might be able to get half decent at it but the controls seem basically impossible to use effectively after my first couple of plays.

Yep tried it on Android seemed a bit of a mess don't think my phone helps though.

Mobile version is out now. Tried it on iPhone and, like Fortnite, it's a pretty impressive port but the controls are obviously awful. I think it actually ran better than the Xbox One version

The Unreal Engine Tech that helped Fortnite get to 60fps is going out to all devs next month so hopefully we'll see the effects further down the line in PUBG.

Had some more goes on the mobile version of this, I'm getting better - lasted until #14 on my most recent go. 
A whole amount of the nuance of the game is lost in this mode though, it's pretty hard to apply any real tactics when the input mechanism is just so unsuited to the experience!

Event mode is here!
Players,
We are very excited to announce a new system coming to PUBG – the Event Mode. You can think of the Event Mode as a periodically changing preset Custom Game where we will be trying new things and experimenting with different game parameters.
Using the Event Mode, players will be able have Battle Royale experiences otherwise not available in the public matches. But it’s designed to be much more than just a preset Custom Game, as Event Mode will feature new content, much of it available in the game only for a limited time.
The first iteration of the Event Mode will be a very simple one, as the system was only recently put together and we need to test the basics first.
This week you will be able to play with up to 8 players in a team and the rifle drop rate will be doubled. We know it’s not a huge change from the public matches but as mentioned above, this is just to get things rolling. The future of the Event Mode holds exciting things!
Please keep in mind that the first iteration will only feature TPP on Erangel to ensure effective matchmaking. Anyone who owns a copy of PUBG can enjoy the Event Mode. To play in the Event Mode, please use the relevant UI in the bottom left of the main menu.
The Event Mode will be unranked but you will receive BP at the end of each match.
Lastly, we would like to reveal one of the features that will be included in our next iteration.

Once we see that the current test build is in a stable state, we plan to move it to the live server soon. We will inform you on the detailed schedule later on.

Hate to break it to you but they populate the game with a lot of bots the first few times you play on mobile.

Got my second solo win the other day, both times I've found that I need to take a break afterwards. Once you reach the top 20 or so, things become legitimately terrifying.

Yep, it's definitely like that on solo, playing with mates dilutes it somewhat but on that note, I have to say, in 4 player co-op this is easily one of the best games around for it. If you've a good squad of mates you're in for an excellent time. In those explosion kills above we were laughing our asses off.

I've played around 110 hours total and 95-ish of that is with a mate in duo. It's definitely not quite as panic-inducing as solo but you're right, I find the game much more enjoyable that way. In solo, I'll always try and make a point to land somewhere populated so I can actually get some practice in combat, but always end up shitting out when I see everyone's parachute open

Had a quick go of the mobile version, driving along in a buggy and someone takes pot-shots at me so trying to ram them I miss and hit the leave vehicle button while still speeding along and die
