It was choppy at times with some pop up. This is from someone playing on a "X" who doesn't normally notice these things. But it was still playable enough for me.
I'm not sure the concept is really for me though.
First game I didn't come across anyone else for at least 15 minutes. I ended up in some underground tunnels and had completely forgot what the point of the game was so gooseberry fool myself when some started shot gunning me. Dead.
Second and third games I did manage to kill a couple of people but I couldn't figure out where the hell I was on the map so died when the play area got reduced.
Third game, I figured out the map and got down to the last few. At this point I could see the appeal as it was quite tense. Got impatient though and ran into a room were someone shot gunned me as soon as I opened the door. Finished 6th.
Had a break but then went back for a couple of more games. Both times I spent about 15 minutes just heading to the play area (my thumb was aching) without coming across anyone else and then just ended up being killed.
So it seems to me that for every 10-15 minutes of worthwhile gameplay you'll spend 45 minutes just running around a big open empty space.
It also seems that you can only play duos and squad with randoms? While I see the point of this surely you should also have the option to play games with everyone is with a group of friends.
Can't tell if its the DVR trick or if servers are running better but this is entirely playable now on Xbox One X. It looks great and feels smooth to play. It's a pity I've no DVR as I got some great kills. Getting a headshot with a K98 from a mile away is amazing. Last night I shadowed a guy ahead of me, till he stopped by a tree, I took him out with my UMP then while looting his body a guy ran me over in a jeep, I had a sliver of health and he jumped out right in front of my waiting 2 shell shotgun and ended him. I got killed then looting his body.
The draw distance for people and vehicles is absolutely crazy. At start of the game I was looking at some distance mountains on the other side of the map and to my astonishment I could make out a vehicle driving down it. Now it doesn't draw in the buildings or tree's that distance way but its persistent in its drawing of other players. The mountains where so far away they'd be in the background in other games.
