Playing imports on a Slim PS2

Does anybody know if there are any non-Swap Magic/disc swapping methods of playing NTSC PS2 games on a PAL machine, such as soft mods or the like?

I don't want to bother with any disc swapping methods due to the compatibility issues and I was just curious if there were any other means to do it, seeing as there are a couple of US only games I wouldn't mind picking up if I could run them on my machine.

I've had a look on youtube, but it's all pretty incomprehensible and difficult to see what the 'current' method(s) are.
