Crash Bandicoot - the games up to and including Crash Bandicoot 3: Warped, which might be the best one in the series.

Then it got crap.

Also, MGS was amazing.

Yeah, I found Warped to be the most enjoyable of the three, maybe it was the variations in the gameplay. Maybe it was also down to the fact that the game was more 'forgiving'?

Which was (in my opinion :) ) better than Mariokart.

I'm in the same boat as you there. I'm sure that we're in the minority though as everyone seems to love Mario Kart.

The only console I have been playing on recently is the Playstation. Final Fantasy VII is still an amazing game.

It was certainly amazing until i got to the boss fight in the elevator quite early on and i gave up, a remake is a must, even a psn release would suffice because i want to complete it!

The VC gave me the opportunity to complete Ocarina of Time, please sony bring out some genuine PlayStation classics for the UK PSN!

Final Fantasy VII is a strong contender for my favourite game ever. Its orgasmic.

I'm in two minds about a remake - I could just about accept one if a) it was on 360 too, so I don't have to buy a PS3 and own all 3 consoles and b) it was very faithful to the original. By that I mean I don't want them to Advent Children up the music by adding loads of drum'n'bass gooseberry fool to the fight theme - I just want them to improve and re-record stuff while keeping true to the original compositions. And I actually like the pre-renders - they hold more atmosphere/character than the shitty generic 3D graphics in X and XII, so if its possible to just use improved versions of them it would be great.

Got it working. Brilliant find.

How have I never seen that Final Fight rip-off near the beginning before? That looks amazing. I'm surprised that never made it out over here. All we got was Fighting Force and Fantastic Four (ugh). That first-person RPG looked interesting...and bloody hell, Kowloon's Gate is massively impressive for a first generation game. Amazing graphics. Geom Cube looks fun, 3D Tetris. Made it to the US but not here. Interesting.

I wouldn't be surprised if there were just as many PSX games not released over here than those that were released over here. If I could get hold of a chipped PSX I could probably double the potential games library.

Does anyone remember R-Type Delta? Played the demo on an OPSM disc back in the days of my childhood.

I often mention this game in topics like this, but a favourite PS1 title of mine was an RPG called Guardian's Crusade. It was never going to be a world-changing game, but it was solid in structure, confident in itself and I liked it a lot.

It's one of two titles on the Japanese PSN that I desperately want to be released over here (the other being Vagrant Story; I never played it and regret that deeply, it looks fascinating).

Ahh the first PlayStation

I remember playing one on launch day in Currys and being blown away by it, i'd just never seen anything like it (I had a 32x at the time). Simply amazing.
I was doing GCSE at the time and wasnt working yet, I remember asking my parents for one but never really expecting to get one. I came home one day, sat on my bed for a while reading a magazine and then went ot leave my room to find my parents stood by the door grinning at me...God knows how i 'd missed it but there under my TV was a shiny new PlayStation with a few controllers and WHOLE RACK of games :D :D :D I had the likes of tomb raider, tekken 2, formula one, wipeout and i nearly cacked myself with joy. I'd been bought it under the proviso that I revised hard for the GCSEs and got good results....

...

...

...

I didnt revise AT ALL and played formula one with my mate every day for six weeks :fp: :fp: :fp:

Luckily i still got good grades, god knows how though :fp:

I STILL think the first playstation was the best console ever, just a relentlessly great lineup of games :)

I remember being the only one in my class with a Sega Saturn as everyone got a playstation!

Sony created a brand from scratch and made gaming cool. It allowed the primary school gamers to turn to the next gen as teenagers and not become embarassed at being a gamer and for that they did so well. I remember the buzz at the time, the people talking about Tekken and Ridge Racer and ofcourse the adverts on TV.

I think the buzz started at my school when the original Gran Turismo appeared on Top Gear

Don't remember that myself, but do remember getting that game and the sequel. Remember the card with the smell of tyre that came with GT2? :D
