Playstation 3 Slim Christmas Day Annoyance

My brother got a new Playstation 3 for christmas. It's his first console and I wasn't around when it was bought by my non too technical dad.

Anyway, it is currently set up on a TV without HD graphics because a HDMI lead wasn't supplied with the console. I've just done a google search about this and discovered it was perfectly normal.

It's a bit of a joke and rip off from Sony in my opinion. Whats the point in selling a HD console without the bloody lead? I bet many kids around the country are playing there new PS3's unknowing that it isn't at its full potential.

Its gooseberry fool alright but I'd imagine most people will know about needing a hdmi cable for HD signals. Not just ps3 either theres no longer a HD cable supplied with 360s as far as I'm aware

Apparently 50% of the population has a HDTV but only 12% are watching any HD content.

It is ridiculous, but I got mine for £3, so thankfully it's not that much of a financial burden to get one.

The 3.15 update to transfer the data is taking strawberry floating forever :fp:

Data Transfer keeps failing out for mine. Summit about corrupted files. strawberry float.

The 360 Arcade I just got only comes with a composite cable too, which is a bit gooseberry fool. Considering how cheap HDMI cables are these days it wouldn't hurt them to include one.

The original 360 I bought had a component cable which doubled as a composite cable, which I thought was quite clever. I seriously doubt it costs much more to make than a composite only cable too.

It gets me just how many people refuse to listen when I'm telling them they need to buy a HD cable for their PS3 when I'm selling them - then they complain when they get home and get such a shitty picture!

That's not actually aimed at Jus Luke by the way, just an irritation of mine. Jus Luke's issues just raised that in my mind, it's likely the staff who sold them the PS3 didn't bother to inform them of the lack of HDMI cable in the box.

I never have a problem with it, I just hate alcohol and predictive text.

I got a HDMI cable for 99p from Amazon for my 360 ages ago. Works perfectly fine.

I saw some in PC world a few months ago selling for £90. My dad was going to buy one for his PS3 (He doesn't live in the country anymore

) and I just laughed and said. What a rip. He didn't buy one thank god. :lol:

Seriously? That's strawberry floating ridiculous for a cable, I doubt a £300 one would do anything more than a £20 one - nothing noticable by the human eyes/ears, that's for sure.

To be honest I haven't really noticed a big difference between Component, VGA and HDMI.

I'm certainly not going to notice the difference between a £3 HDMI and a £300 one.

That's because there isn't a difference between the HDMI cables.

All HDMI cables are exactly the same pretty much.
