The Singstar, Hidden Agenda and That's You games are actually hard copies. Looked on CEX's website and I'd get a grand total of £2.70 for all 3, so it's not even worth the effort of going to the shop to offload them. :fp:

I've no experience of PS4 at all, so is there anything I should be getting like a controller charging dock or other accesories? As I said it's mainly for VR, so wondered whether the Move controllers and maybe Farpoint are worth it? (not sure I fancy another plastic peripheral hanging around though - is the controller good?)

From my previous post:

I'd say you "need" God of War, Bloodborne, The Last Guardian, Until Dawn (If you like that sort of thing), Horizon Zero Dawn.

Okay, I was thinking more along the lines of accessories, but thanks. Recommendations noted.

It’s excellent now; at launch the major complaint was not enough content. Following the same format as so many games these days of releasing unfinished.

At £11 you certainly can’t go wrong.

For VR, you really need the move controllers to get the best out of it. Play London Heist a few times, then get hooked on the shooting gallery part. It's awesome.

I've managed without charging docks.

Ugh, my PS4 headset just snapped as I was unfolding it.

I think Maf did mention that was a known issue with them a while back when they were on sale.

What does the 500 million relate to? They've not sold that many, surely?

Pricing on the console is very fair, but worth noting the standard editions of both the controller and headset have dropped to as low as £36 and £50 respectively in recent months. Quite the premium just to change a bit of plastic.

Of all the machines Sony have put out, I'd put the 500 just behind the PSone 20th edition. It does look very nice. Appears to be shiny however, so DUST AND FINGERPRINT MAGNET. And at 50,000 units you should be able to get hold of one within the first couple of days (rather than, oooooh, seconds on the 20th Anniversary).

That or offer UHD content on the PS Store. Sony's reluctance to do either is very strange to me. I don't even think their mindset is to push people into buying their standalone players either, there simply is no strategy on that front. I'm positive it's made people buy an Xbox One or something like Apple TV. I don't get it, I really don't. Even more so that Sony is a movie studio and proponent of the technology.

They've shifted 500 million PlayStations since 1994.

Anyone would think the PS4 and Pro were specifically designed in such a way as to make these limited edition consoles incredibly easy to make.

Microsoft put a lot of work into their ones, whereas Sony just have to sit there and contemplate what shade of plastic they want to purchase next.

I'd probably like to get a Pro, but not at that price. If it popped up at £200 I'm in but £449 seems silly money

Yes?

Yeah, my first impression was "wow! That looks neat!"... but then I saw a pic detailing just how glossy it is. Man, both the console and controller are gonna be marked up just taking them outta the (lovely) packaging! My original PS3 and (2010) Xbox 360 were nightmares for marks and scratches; since then I've always preferred a matte finish. It's a shame as I love translucent casings (original Xbox, both green and clear variants  ) and the gold markings do look great. Dunno why they've added a camera into the package, either (well, I do - "please buy PSVR too!").

This, so much. PS2? The DVD drive was a big selling point. PS3? The Blu-ray drive was a big selling point. PS4 Pro? Nah... stick in an old drive... even though our biggest competitor now includes a 4K drive on it's base model.

Fake edit: I do love my 'Pro, but there is no doubt that Sony has dropped the ball in terms of benefits and utilising the features, in comparison to what Microsoft has done with the Xbox S and the X. IMHO, of course!

The PS3 and PS4 are actually great Blu Ray players, and S/X are also great if a bit buggy in places by all accounts (a lot of people can't get Blue Planet II to work properly, for some reason) but the DVD player in the PS2 was a pile a gooseberry fool. I remember the first time I went to use it with SCART the picture was GREEN. And when I did get it to work, picture quality was like a halfway house between VHS and a standalone DVD player. The main DVD player in our house ended up being the Xbox...once the cheeky bastards had made you purchase the horrible looking remote.

The thing is, Sony have a fix to the UHD issue, and that's to put all the stuff on the PS Store. They could even offer Plus discounts, particularly on their own films.

In 2016 their PlayStation division said discs were old hat, everyone is downloading now. Glossing over the fact that's basically shitting on their own players, where is it then? We're now in 2018 and Sony still doesn't want you to download their 4K films in the UK even if you bought one of their TVs. You buy the 4K disc and there's nowhere to download the UltraViolet version either. I don't download any films from the PS Store because I refuse to pay the same price for something in HD when it's 4K with extras on iTunes.
