Bought Phantom Pain in the sale this month but was only about £8 including GZ. Win some lose some.

Sony delivering big time with this one. If that becomes the calibre from here on out, that offsets the price increase. Guess we'll see...

It seems that Sony is turning off online functionality for Gravity Rush 2... just a year after the game launched. I am getting a bit apprehensive about this whole “games as services” approach that the big publishers and platform holders are rushing towards.

I'm thinking about getting the ps4 pro fifa offer from game, currently I'm using an original ps4 on a 4k uhd tv and games look really nice with whatever upscaling is going on.
Question is am I now gonna notice much of difference if I upgrade?

I recently got the Sony HT-CT80 soundbar and was wondering if there would be any difference in audio quality if I had the optical cable running between it and the TV, instead of to the console itself. Since I own a slim, I'd need to buy a HDMI converter as it doesn't have an optical out, which would set me back a tenner. If there's no difference just running the cable between the soundbar and TV though, I'll skip purchasing one. It would save me having to swap cables depending on the console I'm using too.

I'd appreciate the help on this as I can't seem to find a proper answer.

No difference in audio quality, you just introduce a layer of very small lag. The tv has to process the HDMI input then output it to audio.

Save your money. Hdmi is as good or better. I'm tied to optical for a bit bit can't wait til I'm in a position to switch.

Is that model a 4K soundbar? Just looking through the manual of my HT-NT5 and using Optical rather than HDMI ARC, it won't output 4K or its audio properly due to copyright protection. Automatic switching will also be disabled, as will some menu features that lets it override the TV menus.

In terms of the actual sound quality, I can't seem to find any caveats mentioned whichever you choose.

It’s what we have been waiting for... you can now get a PlayStation-branded credit card*. Demonstrate that you are a Player! Own that 1080p feeling! Tell people posting facetious messages on games forums that it is actually a great deal!

:dread: I guess that's another way for Sony to leak credit card details.

Sony is releasing special edition consoles to tie in with Star Wars Battlefront II. Beauty is in the eye of the beholder and I don’t like to keep griping about Sony’s special consoles and controllers, but... well, I wouldn’t choose them over the standard models.

That's like a whole other level of gooseberry fool. Like a PS employee's child or parent was let loose on the console design version of MS Paint :dread:

Question - Is the Pro a quieter console than the regular PS4?

My PS4 is starting to sound like a plane taking off even for basic stuff like going into Youtube or playing a game of PES2016, and I'm preparing for the worst. I'm tempted by the Slim as I understand that it's a bit quieter than a launch PS4 (is it?), but the shiny-shiny part of my brain is thinking if I'm going to be spending money on a new console (big IF, I might add) it might be worth shelling out a bit more for a beefier machine and maybe future proof myself a little bit.
