PS4: What's in the box?

Image

The PlayStation 4 will be out this Christmas at a price of $399 / €399 / £349. But what exactly does that get you?

Here's your definitive guide to everything that comes included in the PlayStation 4 box, according to Sony. It's worth noting there's no PlayStation Eye camera included - that's sold separately and will set you back $59 / €49 / £44.

The PlayStation 4
Fairly obviously, the most important thing in your PlayStation 4 box is the console itself. It's packing a 500GB hard drive (though Sony points out that the actual disk space you'll have to play with is less than that because some space will be reserved for system processes). It's got 8GB of GDDR5 memory, an eight-core x86-64 AMD Jaguar CPU, a 1.8 TFLOPS Radeon GPU, two USB 3.0 ports and a six-speed Blu-ray drive.

DualShock 4 controller
You'll get one DualShock 4 controller with the console. As with the DualShock 3, it has a built-in rechargable battery that charges via USB. If you want to buy extra controllers, they'll set you back $59 / €59 / £54 each.

Mono headset
The PlayStation 4 has a strong emphasis on sharing and multiplayer, so this time around the PS4 will come with a headset (something sold separately for PS3), allowing everyone to use voice communication right out of the box.

Cords and cables
Finally, the box comes with three cables. There's your standard AC power cord to power the system, there's an HDMI cable to plug it into your TV, and there's a USB cable, presumably to charge the DualShock 4 controller.

New DUALSHOCK®4 Wireless Controller

Image
The DualShock®4 controller features new innovations to deliver more immersive gaming experiences, including a highly sensitive six-axis sensor as well as a touch pad located on the top of the controller which offers completely new ways to play and interact with games. The new Share button puts video streaming and sharing a tap away.

System Specs

Image

The PS4 system focuses on the gamer, ensuring that the very best games and the most immersive experiences are possible on the platform. The PS4 system enables the greatest game developers in the world to unlock their creativity and push the boundaries of play through a system that is tuned specifically to their needs. Also why are you not a mod Suzz? You seemed to be the favourite, going by people posts on mods.

I am not around as much as I used to be and don't have time to deal with the PMs from members that I once did. Time to pass the torch and let Buff rule as the people's mod.

How good or bad are Amazing Spider-Man 2 and Watchdogs? Both have just been sent by Boomerang.

Spider-Man 2 is okay, it's not as bad as the reviews make it, but nothing special just a functional game with good web swinging. I got bored of Watchdogs in the second chapter.

8-)

Re: Watch Dogs - there is an absolute shedload of content, but the narrative is pretty garbage. The story missions tied into this aren't much cop, either. I would say that it is worth playing though.

I'll be getting my PS4 in November (i have to wait as it's a birthday present) I can't wait to get it. I've made some room in my pc gaming room so it's hooked up to my Monitor and speakers. Planning ahead though i've ordered myself some ps vita headphones which have the mic as i have heard they are brilliant for the price and i wanted just normal in ear headphones. Next up i'll be picking up the charging cradle.

Thought i would give the in ear ones a spin first as i'm not much of a fan of the over the ear headphones plus they are about 70 quid which are quite steep. They could well be a christmas present request though :D
