Quoting for new page because help please
Preezy wrote:Question - Is the Pro a quieter console than the regular PS4?

My PS4 is starting to sound like a plane taking off even for basic stuff like going into Youtube or playing a game of PES2016, and I'm preparing for the worst. I'm tempted by the Slim as I understand that it's a bit quieter than a launch PS4 (is it?), but the shiny-shiny part of my brain is thinking if I'm going to be spending money on a new console (big IF, I might add) it might be worth shelling out a bit more for a beefier machine and maybe future proof myself a little bit.

My PS4 Pro is quieter than my old original PS4, Preezy. By most accounts the new Slim PS4 is the quietest model. This guy carried out a sound test on his new Slim PS4:

..and then he did a test between the original, the Slim and the Pro:

I don't find the Pro noisy. I had a white PS4 from 2015 and it was as quiet as that.

My PS4 downloaded a couple of game updates and, for each one, it downloaded the data and then went into a "Copying...(xx%)" phase... *really* slowly. I've not seen this copy function during a game update before... any ideas what it's doing?

Quick search seems to suggest it is installing, but a big update.

Anyone been suffering from sporadic screen blackouts on the Pro? I've experienced it on every TV in the past but going through the whole HDMI handshake protocol fixes it; with this however nothing seems to have worked. It doesn't happen very often but it's still rather annoying.

Googling it, it appears to be quite a big issue. 51 pages on the PS forums: http://community.eu.playstation.com/t5/ ... p/24693423

Nope, not at all. Which is surprising because my TV regularly has issues with the Wii U resulting in a black screen and a reboot.

I have had the short black-outs on my Pro, but only when the Pro is connected to my TV through an HDMI splitter cable. I have to plug my Pro directly into the TVs HDMI connector to avoid this. It’s odd as other devices - including my PS3 and Switch - are fine with the splitter.

The PlayStation app has been updated and it is available to download now on iOS and Android. The news story mentions something about second screen functionality.

I’ve never tried the app out before and I’m gonna give it a go.

I mostly use it for messaging when away from PS4. It's decent.

I get this but no splitter involved the Pro is connected direct to the TV, would love to know if theirs a fix though as it can be annoying?

According to a post on the PS forums, if you have an LG C6 you may be in luck as there's apparently a patch entitled: SONY PS4-pro HDCP2.2 Fail (No Signal).

Some people have suggested turning the PS4 Pro on using safe mode and switching HDCP2.2 to 1.4, though other's have said it didn't rectify it. Another option is to use the HDMI entitled "ARC" on your TV, though if you're using a soundbar you probably are already.

HDMI handshake is supposed to combat piracy, but in reality it can be a compatibility pain in the arse.

Not sure if this will work for you, but when I suffered with this, a new, better quality, HDMI cable completely eradicated the problem.

I get that and I thought it was the breakout box for my VR unit going a bit wonky. Maybe it's a common fault.
