My PS4 now has an external drive connected to it and I feel epic :toot: .

Meanwhile, SHAREfactory has been updated to version 2.5 and it now allows you to
import your own videos or images from USB to use in your projects.

I am certain that nothing will go wrong with this and that unsuitable images will *definitely* not be used.

Jawa, can you take your external drive and see if your other PS4 can play the games off of it?

Yes?

I'd wondered about that too, Deaths. I'm downloading a couple of games to my PS4 now (which is super slow; my Pro downloads much faster). I'll take a look at this aspect later :-).

I may have also connected an external drive to my Pro... :shifty: :fp: .

Done some digging and apparently you can use the same drive with any machine that is tied to your logon. There are a few aspects to note, though, so it's worth reading the article if you plan to go down that route.

Oh, and just in case folk were not aware, only games / apps can be saved to the external drive. You can't place game saves, screenshots or videos onto the external drive. Seems a bit odd but there you go.

That's a hell of update :o I think I'd use ShareFactory more if its initial load didn't take so long.

You got yourself a Pro or normal PS4?

Once I got a Pro the difference in exporting a vid through Sharefactory was quite something. Speedy to say the least.

I'm dual-fourin', Kj; I kept my PS4 when I got the Pro and they're set up right next to each other :toot: . I haven't used ShareFactory for *ages*; not since I done some vids in PES 2016 and Mad Max. I'll give it a go again to check out the new feautures.

External HDD now connected. Currently downloading a ton of stuff I've previously had to delete from my 2Tb internal drive. No more "you haven't got enough space" message when I've got over 100Gb spare!

Best update for ages :toot:

Well yakuza 0 runs much smoother, but almost feels like i am playing the game in fast forward mode and the controls feel super sensitive.

External Solid State drives make a huge difference to load times, you guys should move all your fave games over to them. Majority of games I have are on both my external drives.

How much did an external SSD cost? Would probably make more sense to rip that out and put it in the PS4 as an internal drive.

Original PS4.

Tried ShareFactory last night and it's faster at doing everything than I recall. Initial load time is *massively* reduced.

Any links to a cheap but suitable external drive will be much appreciated.

Joking right? An external SSD in Currys is £120 for just a 250GB model. Please show me a link to a 1TB external SSD for €50 as I'd like to snap up a few....

I wonder if there could be some mix-up between hard drives and solid state drives?

Possibly, although Photek does seem to be able to walk through alternative universes. Could be cheaper SSDs there.

That is a decent price for 4Tb but I wonder about Rapidly's need for a cheap price. It may be preferable to go for a 2Tb drive as that can hit the sweet spot between a good amount of space and cost. I picked up a Maxtor 2B drive from Amazon for £63. I'm sure other folk could find it cheaper off the beaten track.

Oh, Rapidly, just a couple of pointers - the drive has to be USB 3.0 compatible (older USB 2.0 drives won't work) and you may prefer to go for a 2.5 inch drive as they can be powered through the USB cable; 3.5 inch drives require a separate power supply (and are often noisier).
