Ah, so what if a non-primary account is PSN+? Does that have to be made the primary account first?

Try it. If the primary non PSN+ account logs in and can't play online, you'll know!

Yes?

The problem is, it's my nephews' PS4, so I can't try it myself. I will have to try to explain it to them...

You've explained this the wrong way around. An account has a primary PS4, but a PS4 doesn't have a primary account, it treats all accounts on the system equally.

The same PS4 can be the primary console for as many accounts as you like.

Looks cool, Saint... where'd you visit to get that? My iPad doesn't like the gif, though!

Meanwhile... Polybius is arriving on PS4 in April. It's the new game from Llamasoft, a developer which some GRcadians may recall (Jeff Minter, sheep and hugely psychedelic stuff :) ). Vita owners may have played TxK.

I had thought the title was just for VR setups. Well, although it looks ace on that, it works on plain console kit, too. I am a fan of Llamasoft and it's ace to see their latest arrival. Screenshots don't really do the experience justice; it's an "in the zone" shooter that seems pretty hypnotic. This trailer gives a flavour of the action:

It's up for pre-order in the PS Store for £11.19; that includes a 20% PS Plus discount.

I need to spend about a quid in order to qualify for the £50 spend during March. Anyone got any theme recommendations?

If it were me, I'd go for some avatars. Yeah, I know spending tens of pence on an avatar is an anathema to some, but that's what I'd do.

That might be an option, there's so many though and I'd want to buy something I might actually use.

Bloodborne (dynamic; £1.69) and World of Final Fantasy are both really cool themes.

I'm one of those people that likes themes :shifty: . The quality varies massively, though.

There are some good Zero Escape and MGS V avatars.

My PS4 is downloading an update for COD Black Ops III (version 1.21) which is 16 Gb. I thought that it'd "right itself" and change to the usual few-gigabytes size of update but, no, it's doing a full 16 Gb.

I'm wondering if this is due to an issue with the internal / external hard drive setup. The game is stored on the internal drive but, by default, all new data is saved onto the external drive. Will have a look around the drives once it has completed.

Cool story bro etc.

Edit: Checked it out and... no idea why it did a 16 Gb download.

Does anyone think Sony will respond at all to the Scorpio reveal?
I'm hoping they concentrate on VR at this years E3 and then next year steal the Microsoft strategy of revealing that a new machine is in the works and releasing the Christmas after.
This would give the Pro a 3 year lifespan and also give the engineers time to get better parts than the scorpio.

Having picked up a Pro only a few months ago, I would be pretty annoyed if Sony start talking about a new machine anytime soon  .

I agree, this year would be stupid. They could go the next 2 E3 shows without mentioning PS5 and have the normal tech announcement in spring and release for Christmas 2019 for the same time frame or would that still be too soon?
I completely understand about not wanting them to show anything new as I also have the Pro.

A smaller PS4 Pro, possibly with UHD drive, has to be on the cards for this year or next.

Continued from the Xbox Scorpio thread -

Last week's sales in Japan

PS4 - 25,006
PS4 Pro - 5,051

I think by the end of the generation we'll see something like a 110m install base with only 15m of those being Pro.

I've got a Pro and I really like it, but I do feel that Sony has done a pretty poor job of (a) deciding exactly how the extra tech power should / could be applied and (b) getting software developers to clearly indicate how the extra power is being used in games. It feels like the machine was sprung onto developers with roughly ten minutes notice.

I'm not slating the machine itself ( I can see plenty of speed and clarity improvements even on my 1080p screen)... more Sony's communication around it.

Maybe I'm easily pleased but the Pro already seems impressively small and surely a UHD drive will be bigger? One thing they could do which obviously won't help people with the pro is add more usb ports.

I don't think they need to to be honest, power is rarely and indication of success, taking into account that Vanilla/Pro split this still seems to be the case. All that Sony need to do is continue to build its varied library of games and perhaps look at their backwards compatibility solution, it's far from elegant at the moment. The latter isn't an issue for me, I prefer to play new games, but I appreciate some would like to see improvements.
