PS4 is lined up for sales figures in the region of PS2. The competition is certainly weaker than last gen. Wii U looks like Gamecube territory than Wii. I expect Xbox One to reach 360 numbers as I do expect the media functions of the machine to sell systems as will big exclusives like Halo, but I feel they've gone so far with Kinect that they wont ever be able to remove it, which will keep One as the most expensive throughout next gen, which based on previous generations, has a big effect on market share. If PS4 does turn out to have the power advantage too, thats a big part of the puzzle on day one.

Will PS4 outsell PS2? Depends on the strength of the Xbox exclusives. At the moment One has a clear games advantage. Although I am personnally more aligned to PS, having owned one gen of xbox consoles and three gens of ps consoles, that appears to be the story going forward too. I dont know what PS4 game will be the system seller for me. I always believed it was the depth of the PS2 catalogue which made it the greatest console I've owned. I'd love to see PS4 manage to repicate that.

Sony's PlayStation 4 is the fastest-selling console in UK history, according to official sales figures.

Chart-Track said PS4 beat the eight-year record help by Sony's PlayStation Portable, which launched in 2005 to the tune of 185,000 sales. PS4 beat Xbox One, which launched on 22nd November, and its predecessor PlayStation 3.

I think it was because they have more units available at launch. I remember that the Wii and 360 were very difficult to get hold of, for a few months after they launched. Of course that applies to the PS3 as well.
