Cheers Jawa, will definitely give that a read.

Installed F1 23 now, but Avatar stopped copying from the disc during the install (well, actually it slowed to an almost halt) at around 75% and i genuinely have no idea why. :(

Hmmn... Avatar has on-disc protection... is your PS5 setup with internet connection yet, Vermi?

Yep, it's still installing, just very, very slowly.

The connection's fine as it downloaded/installed the system software update without issue.

Still, F1 is all done now, and i'm looking forward to starting career mode.

Is that seriously how the PS5 sits horizontally?

Sometimes, you need to pause the latest update and it can make the installing slower I believe. Or let the latest update finish first then it will install with the game data quicker.

The strange thing is, no updates are being downloaded with Avatar, and i paused the F1 update to see if that would speed things up (it didn't).

Yep, my table isn't level enough to have it vertical anyways.

Hey, Vermi, did your games install in the end?

I just thought... it may be best not to install a game from a disc whilst another game is downloading. On PS5 it seems that only one game/item at a time can be downloaded (on PS4 it does up to three); anything else is queued up.

It also won't install from a disc in rest mode. I found this out when starting one off, putting it in rest mode for an hour only to then find it hadn't progressed at all

I will continue with it today, ran out of time last night.

Will keep you posted, but i do know that nothing was downloading when i was trying to install.

Tried again from scratch today, put in the disc, copying started, then at 74%, the disc seemed to stop and it ground to a halt again.

As before its installing but extra slowly, I think I'll probably just leave it running for the rest of the day as I think it'll get there in the end. I also disabled sleep mode so that it will just keep on running.

Just seems like such an odd thing to occur though, especially as I had no issues with F1 at all.

Presumably the upcoming Pro model will address these features.

I did read somewhere (i was on the phone browser so can't remember where), that someone had a similar issue with installing FF7 Rebirth, in that it slows right down like this.

I've not bought Rebirth yet, tbh i just want to get this one done before i even think about trying to install anything else.

I'm beginning to think that only 60GB was actually on the game disc, and the rest is having to be downloaded (hence the slowdown as my net speeds are never particularly great anyways).

PS5 only has 75% of a game.

Did a trial of Spidey 2 and Ragnorok.
Sandman and Thor fights have convinced me.

Success, Avatar has finally been installed. :toot:

Took around 6 hours in total though. :|

On a separate note, when i last played Cities Skylines on PS4, i uploaded my saved game to cloud storage. I wonder if it will be possible to continue with my saved game on the PS5 version?

Finally started Avatar today, and the visuals are absolutely gorgeous (even though my TV is only 1080p).

Enjoying it a lot so far, reminds me a bit of Far Cry.

I'd recommend never making ammo for that throwing bomb weapon as it uses the yellow brick looking resource. It's very limited and it's best used at bases for swapping for human weapons and mods. The shotgun is really good and you can run from enemy to enemy and if you get the right mods you can upgrade it's power, ammo and even get health back from kills.

I enjoyed The Avatar game, it does look lovely. Its pace is slower and more chilled than most FPS games. It's very repetitive but for a Avatar simulator it's really well done.

Wish my image sig would work

Cheers, duly noted.

Sounds like something i shall enjoy a great deal then, as i quite often prefer to play something a bit slower paced, and i'm not overly fussed about a bit of repetition (hell, i'm someone who spent forever gathering all the collectables in Mafia III).
