PlayStation Now puts epic adventures, iconic characters and incredible PlayStation 3 games at your fingertips without the need to own a disc or buy a download1.

Choose from hundreds of classic games to stream at a low rental or subscription cost2 to your PlayStation 4 and other PS Now compatible devices – all you’ll need is a DUALSHOCK 4 wireless controller and a broadband internet connection (minimum 5mbps recommended).

■ Rent classic PS3 games for either two days or 30 days, or subscribe to PS Now on a monthly basis.

■ Save your game to the cloud and continue playing on any other PS Now compatible devices.

■ Jump into multiplayer battles, go on co-op adventures and compare trophies online with fellow PS3 players, whether they’re playing via PS Now or on disc or download on their PS3 system.

Thoughts? Really surprised to see PS3 supported, probably explains the recent lack of PS1/PS2 games on the Store. I wonder if they'll be pulled now.

I wonder what kind of approach they're going for.
One off payments? Or a more Netflix style subscription service where you have access to a game library?

I'm really hoping for the latter, I'd be all over that.

Gotta be Netflix style but I'm betting on some kind of tiered system.

Could they combine it with a PS+ sub perhaps?

What?

They do. And why would it only be Sony published anyways?

There are TONS of Playstation 1 & 2 exclusive games.

Knew something like that was on the horizon, in particular no longer needing the PlayStation hardware.

Will live or die on whether the technology powering it is up to the job.

I think this adds weight to the argument that PS4 will be Sony's last console with 'PlayStation' evolving into a service in the long term.

Since when can you play your PS2 on the bus. Or in McDonalds. On your phone?

That is ultimately the question, and I do have to admit I was pretty impressed with Gaikai back when it was a demo streaming service for PC games. That said, I also don't think the internet infrastructure is anywhere near ready for something like this (but on the other hand, it didn't look particularly ready for Netflix's streaming services in 2007).
