Quality over quantity, PS Now also had more games than Gamepass but it had a lot of shovel ware (its over 500 games in GP between PC and Xbox btw)

And EA Play is included in GP ultimate.

You can use one sub on the PS5. I know you can play PS Plus games on other account, and the same goes for PS Now games that is installed. But not sure about game saves being uploaded to the cloud and the ability to download or stream from Now other than the main account.

So is the premium tier £100 per year, for the best part of 1000 games in the library? That's my understanding of the endeavour. I guess its value is going to depend what PS1/2 era games they get on there, really. I wouldn't mind the chance to go back and play quite a few old school Sony games because I missed out on a lot of them as a Nintendo kid.

There were some fantastic PS1 and PS2 games, but I really have no interest in playing through them today. Games don't age well, especially games from the early 3D era.

I think Disney Plus is a good example of a service which Sony may being looking to replicate, especially with the top tier of Plus, but I'm not sure that it will work. Disney Plus doesn't have all of their new releases on it, but has a wide back catalog and some of their new content and it's established itself well through volume. But games are not a two hour experience which you can watch and forget if it falls short. There is almost always a better, more modern version of older games, either through direct sequels, remakes or alternative takes on a similar concept produced with the benefit of advanced technology. The back catalog really doesnt interest me.

I would agree that most PS1 3D games are pretty unplayable, I think PS2 ones should fair much better, though I probably wouldn't bother playing them beyond a quick nostalgia hit. The biggest advantage of the service for are the PS4 and PS5 games on offer, we just need to know what they are.

Actually, the fact that Vita TV was a thing they put out that was able to work with just the DualShock 4 throws my reasoning in the bin.

Without any modern day features are PS1/2 games really going to be that great to go back to? Especially when blown up onto a 47" and above 4K TV.

I'm getting a bit tired of so many monthly/annual subscriptions. Every company wants you to pay them on a consistent, ongoing basis. Across TV, gaming and music even just a few subs can quickly add up to become a substantial monthly outgoing, especially when so many companies want to do their own schemes.

From a gaming perspective, with the increasing costs I'd like to just be paying for a single platform. Paying for online schemes, then more for game rental schemes, then more for retro game rental schemes... for more than one system? Nah!

Couldn't disagree more! Some games have certainly aged badly, and many others have aspects that have aged when contrasted with modern quality of life and design principles, but that far from makes them unplayable or lesser experiences. There's no reason if a game was fun in the past it should be any less fun now. Changing design can swing both ways too, there are plenty of games of those eras that simply don't get made in the modern market because the genre has fallen out of fashion, because of changing priorities between e.g. local and online multiplayer, and because of the massively increased costs of modern game production.

Those first two 3D generations have many of what are still the best games ever made in my opinion.
