Does Horizon have a teleport movement option? Smooth movement just always gives me an upset stomach.

It's feeling like Sony is making very little noise about PSVR 2 and I'm surprised at how - to me - few enticing games have launched for it.

I wonder if they're stuck in a cycle of high cost / low sales / few games and the only way that's gonna change is with a significant price cut; which I don't know if they can do given the tech involved and the development costs incurred.

I'm not digging at the format, either; I was a big fan of PSVR and I still think that VR is one of the biggest new experiences in gaming for decades. Even so, right now PSVR 2 appears a bit "lost" and Sony has to quickly get some momentum behind it if it is gonna have a foothold in the market.

I wouldn't be surprised if Sony have a bit of a cocky attitude towards it as they're the only players in the console VR space. If Microsoft came along with a VR offering for Xbox I do wonder if maybe Sony would up their game a bit.

This is ultimately why I chose meta quest 3. After a strong launch almost 9-10 months ago it’s become a bit of a graveyard of news. Quest3 is standalone, can be used for PCVR and has a better supported app / game store. Shame as the tech in PSVR2 is no doubt better.

Genuinely wouldn’t be shocked if Sony just dropped it and took the L, they’ll attempt one big price drop first but I can’t see it pushing the numbers they need to recoup costs.

They never learnt the lessons with PSVR1. In fact this almost feels worse and less supported. When the only new releases are also available elsewhere there is little incentive to fork out.

Not making it backwards compatible with PSVR1 games was a big mistake really, could likely have increased the popularity a decent chunk.

I'd love to buy it but can't really justify it for RE alone.

Huge mistake. I'll never buy one because of this.

What does the tweet say sorry? Poor sales?

The dev of Rec Room

Rec Room "can't justify" the costs for a PSVR 2 port, according to its CCO:

With few "must have" games available, seemingly little momentum and consumers tightening their belts in many cases, it doesn't feel to have been a great first year for PSVR 2. The games are not going to come unless Sony finances them or the market rapidly expands; the latter of which is probably only going to be driven by a significant price cut.

Looking at Sony's own figures up until last April, it was actually tracking above the original, but Sony have done absolutely nothing in the last 9 or 10 months to garner additional interest. No marketing, no games, no price cut. Maybe Apple will raise interest levels in VR, in turn boosting consumer interest in cheaper alternatives such as VR2, but that's not exactly a strategy.

It’s worrying that in almost a year they haven’t announced anything and no first party exclusives. I’m very glad I went meta quest 3 instead.

Also, we're pleased to share that we are currently testing the ability for PS VR2 players to access additional games on PC to offer even more game variety in addition to the PS VR2 titles available through PS5. We hope to make this support available in 2024, so stay tuned for more updates.
