How did this get played? Is really funny.

Was recommended to me by Jazzem.

Listened to the Duke Nukem Forever and Untitled Goose Game episodes, it's rather an enjoyable listen!

Gonna chuck in another mention for Dictators - listening to the Stalin episodes is so interesting.

Seconded.

I've just finished the Kim Il-Sung and Kim Jong-il episodes. Fascinating stuff. I'm looking forward to the Kim Jong-un ones.

I'm still enjoying Dictators (I'm up to the Roman emperors episodes) but I'm sick of hearing about Blind Dating. :x

Have to say, the Caudillo episodes they've been doing lately (Franco, etc) have been really good. Had no idea Eva was complicit in Juan Perõn's manipulation of the people.

I hope the next season is on Middle Eastern dictators. That feels like an under-explored area.

Because I listen to a lot of different podcasts, I am slowly making my way through Dictators. Next up for me is Ivan the Terrible.

Ivan was a twisted piece of gooseberry fool, his episodes are great.

Have been listening to and loving Transmissions From Colony One and Wolf 359 lately - both sci-fi audio dramas a few years old, the former on reasonably solid scientific ground (except GRB's don't really work that way) based on a Mars colonization mission, with phenomenal voice acting, the latter a light, amusing but oddly captivating space station story with lovely music.

On a more surreal note, The Far Meridian is also a great listen - an agoraphobic young woman's decommissioned lighthouse home starts showing up in different places every night. Wonderful voice work here, too.

Sounds good, I've just added this to my subscriptions. Always wanted to learn more about Ivan the terrible, but never really gotten around to it, beyond the top level stuff. I've been obsessed with the painting "Ivan the Terrible and His Son Ivan" by Ilya Repin every since I first saw it, so would be great to finally know a bit more about him.

And the latest episode is on Franco, too, another figure I'm interested in. Wonder if the later parts will touch on Spain's policy of "forgetting".

If you're interested in Franco, I'd recommend the recent episodes of "Behind the Bastards". There's one on the birth of Spanish fascism and one on how fascism won the Spanish civil war. Fascinating stuff and much wider in scope than just Franco, it has loads of information I'd never heard of.

One of the hosts of the History's Most podcast specializes in the Spanish Civil War and everything related to it, if you're looking for more. Kinda colors the whole podcast, to be honest, but it's alright. I liked their early episode on the Russo-Japanese War and the doomed Russian fleet.

Tried out Behind the Bastards today (Hitler mini and Stalin at the beginning), after having it lurk in my Followed Podcasts list for a few months. Excellent stuff, very funny and interesting. I hope it doesn't become soul crushing like the Dollop.

It's obviously similar to the Dollop, it's mostly about historical bastards after all.

The episodes reading Ben Shapiro's book are amazing, you're in for a treat whenever you get to one of those.

I like that it's similar, I just don't want it to destroy me like Dave's end-of-episode rants about how strawberry floated everything today is. Maybe those things need to be said and understood, I know Dave has always been a pull no punches kinda guy, but they're a big part of what drove me away from the Dollop.

Still, I look forward to all the craziness of BtB.

Gave the Lady To Lady podcast a try today, on the strength of Brandie Posey's Behind the Bastards guest appearance. First episode on the Exactly Right network. Seems like a really fun show, I'll be adding it to my list.

You might want to stop then. As the Trump era gets crazier, Robert Evans gets more and more bleak about America's chances.

I will take my chances for the time being, I don't think anyone can sour me quite like Dave Anthony, but I appreciate the warning. :slol:

Getting confused trying to download the Alan Partridge From the Oasthouse podcast. I’m an Audible member and I can see it but my only options are to sample it or add it to my wish list. I’m not used to paying for podcasts. Is this just another Partridge audio book presented in the guise of a podcast? In which case I’m sure it’s worth the money but Amazon don’t make it clear.

Behind the Bastards' Weinstein episodes were... illuminating. I had no idea he roped in Lisa Bloom of all people, and the use of the ex-Mossad Black Cube organization, holy gooseberry fool. The discussion about everyone having a price and Weinstein's ability to buy almost everyone off, that provoked a lot of thoughts in me about what my price might be. Maybe there's a thread in that.

How Did This Get Played's Custer episode that turned into a discussion of tokenism was... wow. As awkward to listen to as that iconic dinner scene from Breaking Bad was to watch, but much more important.

Evil By Design is another apparently fantastic podcast from CBC, that is uncovering the evils of fast fashion business leader Peter Nygard, dubbed Canada's Jeffrey Epstein, who apparently may be much worse than Epstein ever was. :dread: I've not listened yet, but soon I shall.
